So, I've been waiting this play this game since I woke up one morning and saw its announcement on Blizzard's website in 2007. I've been an avid Starcraft fan since the original came out in 1998. Back when I was thirteen or fourteen years old, and I had nothing better to do, Starcraft and Counter-Strike consumed me.
I've always loved the Zerg (who would have guessed?). Except when it came down to it, I played and still do best with Terran. That's not to say I haven't lost most of my skill in the past six years of not playing competitively...
I think it was soon later I joined the Gundam Portal. Oh, such nostalgia.
Starcraft 2 though, I am reaching the point where I can't wait anymore. I am glad they are taking their time to make a perfect game that lives up to the fan's AND Blizzard's standards of quality, but I wish they'd come out with more regular updates.
Even if it was purely screenshots, more unit profiles, more battle reports - SOMETHING.
Speaking of Battle Reports, they've so far been my favorite thing to watch. Getting to see the new graphics and gameplay makes me happy. It's rather sad. Admittedly I'm disappointed they always pick such crappy Zerg players in the reports, and don't seem to always use a very diverse group of units like I wish they would.
So far, I'm actually most excited to play as the Terran. Sorry, Zerg.
One thing has me really excited is the Starcraft 2 world editor. I always loved making my own maps and mini-campaigns in the original, but felt limited in some ways by StarEdit's abilities. Warcraft 3 for example had the ability to create new units, which was awesome.
Many people asked Blizzard, "Will the World Editor be able to..." Many questions, obviously. To all of which Blizzard responded simultaneously, "Yes."
