Cambridge, United Kingdom
12AM,
October 17th, 2025 The night over the University of Cambridge the students would either be studying or even sleeping depending on who they were. A Prestigious university, just as well known as Oxford little did anyone know tonight the school would cease to exist. Without warning and without much of a breath suddenly a great quake would hit the university. The wind around would act up as a vortex would prevent anyone seeing what was going outside and inside the university. Suddenly a great flash of light would shoot up into the sky and then suddenly nothing. The spot where the university was at would have nothing but a great crater, there was no survivors or witnesses. "The First Seal has been Broken, we need to move quickly to London, we need to protect the key.", a voice soon stated. *Playing in the Background* October 21st, LondonGrand Opening of the Grand Museum of LondonOh the great nights of any nights the grand opening of a new Museum for his majesty King William, would bring joy anyone. The previous one burned down in tragic fire of 2019, leaving the work on a new far more advance museum. It is due to many various celebrities and other well known lovers of history would come, it is a symbol of rebirth to the British as the fire nearly destroyed most of the city due to riots. From all corners of the world many people would arrive by car as the media a buzzed in trying to make joy. After the terrorist attack on Cambridge and the unknown weapon two days prior as put the United Kingdom populace on edge. Thus many officials used this as a time to try to change the topic into a symbol of rebuilding. As the various people would enter one peticular car would arrive, the man who helped rebuild the Grand Museum, Mr. Edward Albert, the man who controlled the largest corporation in the world. He would exit out along with his date, as the cameras and media began taking pictures and asking questions. "Mr Albert, what do you think of the terrorist attack on Cambridge?", one reporter soon asked. "Mr Albert what brought you to help rebuild half of London for the British Government? Aren't you mostly based on entertainment!", another asked. But alas due to the heighten security the reporters were kept away as the 34 year old only smiled and waved as he entered. This would continue over the night even as more vehicles arrived and many various people of historic fields or some simply too damn rich. Soon a certain vehicle to a certain Best Selling author and the media would go a buzz again to ask what would be his next book. Of course he could choose to ignore but the media would be always asking these questions. Inside the music would continue to play as various food would be on display, this was historic the inside was vastly much larger then the original. Not to mention far more advanced then the previous museum, which could be noted that security were all over of men in suits who had glasses with a HUD and radio ear pieces in their ears. There will be no terrorist attack here, at least that is the plan. During this a speech would be given by Mr Albert, after all he was the one who helped rebuild this great historical place. During this a blonde woman in a dress would be walking around, seemingly looking a bit nervous. If like she was searching for something if James would notice give off an aura. "Good evening everyone, I see my British friends all here tonight on this historic occasion. Well I could of had a very, very long speech, but instead I would like to keep it simple and clean. The day the Tragic Fire destroyed half of London 6 years ago it was a sad day. History, teaches us many things and history tells us what happens when you allow tensions to fester. Today I will simply say let the rebirth of London continue and I am proud to bring you the grand opening of the Grand Museum of London!!", Mr. Albert would finish then would enter the crowd as the various people could walk around to look at the museum. "So far nothing Ben, are you sure they will attack now?", the blonde woman who mentally soon speak to another voice as she walked the party area. "The Boss wants this to go without a hitch, not to mention what happened in Cambridge, we lost good men there so we are having a hard time.", the voice would respond. "I warned dad about that, if the key is lost then-", blonde would be soon interrupted.

James and Kate are standing in a corner in the party, dressed appropriately for the situation. James himself is in a party suit, with a green dress shirt and a light black suit jacket over it. Kate being a woman is naturally more well dressed, wearing a white party dress along with matching jewelries and a part of white long gloves. The two are trying to stay out of the crowd, harder said than done considering the two pretty much lures people over to talk to them, one for their wisdom and the other for their beauty.
It's been quite sometime since their last encounter with deities, bandits, and more sand than James would like to see in his entire life. They survived, brought home some trinkets and a pair of pets that he had to make room for in his house, and had as much adventure as your average movie hero. Generally, after an adventure like that, James would rather relax in his home or office and enjoy some off time from life threatening situations... but the bad part about being famous is that you'll be called to all sorts of event and parties, which is why him and Kate is here tonight.
It's not easy trying to avoid attention either, even he hides himself, it won't be easy for Kate to do the same either. With the level of mass communication around the world, keeping one of them away from reporters is already an extremely difficult task, more than one had James wondered if he should have asked Dieter on how he managed to do it. It would be easy to just brush them off, but that's not really good for his image, so he had to just give up his resistance and deal with all the people that are interested in talking to him. The crowd are getting more excited too when he just released a book about their recent trip to Egypt, making more people question if the stuffs he wrote might actually be real, however he remained silence and decided to not release any information to them.
The appearance of Mr. Albert had drew the direction of the crowd away from the two of them, which is a relief. James was getting tired of answering questions, and Kate had enough of the people that are trying to ask her for a dance. The two regroup and looks at each other before sighing, both of them understand it's a side-effect of being famous, but nevertheless it's not something they like to deal with.
"Catherine... can I retire early? Maybe then I'll be able to relax at home."
"Nice try, but unless I get to do the same, you're not going anywhere anytime soon."
"You're hinting at something aren't you?..."
"I have no idea what you're talking about... don't you think it's rude to look at another woman when you're talking to one?"
"......Hm, you're right, perhaps I could make it up to you by treating you to a drink later tonight?"
Kate was less experience in terms of using magic, and was more focus on mental related spells, so she was less sensitive towards the flow of mana. James on the other hand, could feel that the blonde hair lady have magical powers inside her, of a fair amount. It caught his attention, but not enough for him to worry, after all anyone of their usual team have a much greater capacity than she does. Even Kate who had less combat experience are more powerful thanks to James being around her so often, so her increasing rate of mana would be much higher than even those with training. Though she did not sense it at first, Kate does notice it when the woman are communicating using her mind, which comes into her school of magic.
The two of them exchanged a look, telling each other that they're sharing similar thoughts. James kept a mental note to himself about this mysterious figure, there's no reason for them to suddenly approach her right now, but it's not a bad thing to keep an eye out just in case.

Gwen soon turned as she sensed something which was far stronger then she was as she turned to see two people staring at her. Her eyes looked at them suspiciously, whoever they are they were not normal. She wondered if they were fae in disguise, but why would they be so open? She wondered in itself on who they were, she soon went to her purse and took out her smartphone. Walking and keeping her distance she looked on soon calling number.
"Need information specifically a man and woman who are not too far. What you have on them?", She soon asked her phone.
After a brief moment a voice soon came out of the phone, "They are Mister James Gransela and Miss Kate Casimir, he is the author of those books that been on best sellers list as of late. A lot of Mythological books it seems. They were both invited and their clean on everything when we scanned them, they are defiantly not fae."
"Oh? Keep an eye on them anyways.", Gwen soon stated as she put her phone away and walked up to a nearby case which held an ancient item.
Well Gwen was on the phone and looking at James they would be interrupted before they could comment about her looking at them suspiciously.
"Well well, the famous Mister James Gransela!", Edward soon stated as he walked up to the both of them along with his date.
The both of them were in front of their view of Gwen when he soon puts his hands out in a handshake.
"I been meaning to meet you for a while now. Your latest book intrigued me very much so, so much that my date here is a fan of your books. Ariana will you please introduce yourself?", Edward soon stated as a red headed woman walked up and she also would shake both James and Kate's hand.
If they notice they would felt a jolt of mana pass between them suddenly as if they felt something far older and wiser before them.
"I been quite taken back by your books and much of detail you manage to make up. I wonder sometimes if they were real or not.", She stated with a smile, if one notice a silver wheel necklace could be seen on her neck.
"Yes, well I take you must his assistant Kate Casmir I take?", Edward would soon asked as he noticed the woman next to James.

The two looked at her on purpose, and drew the reaction that they were looking for in her. The way that she quickly moved away, and trying to communicate with a phone will clearly show that she knows of magic, and knows that she have sensed the power in the two of them. The way the woman is trying to hide her own ability definitely shows that she had came for another purpose other than to enjoy the party. That said, they don't plan to do anything to her, just the existence of more powerful beings in the area is enough to get her to think twice before pulling off anything here. Friend or foe, it's better to keep unexpected happenings under control.
"That should do for now."
James watches as the woman disappears into the crowds, but before they could discuss about what she might be planning, the new arrivals had stopped their discussion and back to regular business mode.
"Ah, Mr. Albert, thank you for your invitation. It was nice to see influential men like you have great interest in cultures of the past, certainly a fine topic to enjoy. I also thank you for your interest in my books, certainly nothing makes an author feel better than to hear that his work is well accepted."
He briefly replied to Edward's opening line while returning the handshake, followed by Kate who gives a light smile in reply, leaving James to do the talking as much as he dislikes doing so.
"Pleased to meet you... Miss."
He too felt the mana, as did Kate, however the two had different reaction towards her. Kate, feels that the woman before her seems to have a different kind of mentality, one that belongs to non-humans, or simply one that is either a genius or is mad. James however, felt a challenge. What exactly did that wave of mana meant? To threaten others of her existence just like what James and Kate just did? To show off? Her necklace sure seems to be of such. Trying to detect James' own ability perhaps? Either way he wasn't exactly happy about it.
"Ah, does it matter if it is made up or not? Perhaps like Gilbert Harman had said, we are simply a brain inside a vat, given sensation and images of what we think we are doing. We have no way of confirming such truth, as such then perhaps we should just accept what we personally feel is correct. Some people had read my books and believe I am telling the truth, while others believe it is a story. Those that believe it is the truth will continue to do so, while those that think it is false will also continue to do the same. It is not my words and proof that convinces these people, it is their own will, their own imaginations that does so."
What he did, was to explain his thoughts, stepping into the boundary of the woman before him. If she is as confident as she seems to be, it is likely she'll have a response for him, but like he had said, accepting it is another story. It's a challenge towards her mentality and wisdom, a counter strike with knowledge rather than magic, a different kind of combat that does not require destruction and deaths... at least none that are physical.
"Indeed I am, a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Albert. It's not every day that I can talk to someone of your position and ability."

Gwen continued to look around and saw back where James and Kate were to note that the guest of honor soon talked to them. For a simple moment she was nervous for a second but noticing how they acted she soon left out a sigh of relief.
"Ben... this job is going to give me an early grave one day.", Gwen told Ben mentality towards him which she soon hears a chuckle.
With that done she would keep an eye on the pair for now but from a distance, the night was not over and worries on what occurred in Cambridge was still fresh on her mind. They couldn't find anything except the blade of Galatine was all that was left. She would continue to look around and walk around the party until she noticed something odd not too far. Turning around she walked down a hallway as she began to notice one hallway was oddly empty. She continued down the hallway and now truly noticed no guards, which put her on edge for a moment. She continued to walk down the hallway making a turn and then noticed the lights beginning to flicker.
"What the...", Gwen soon commented as suddenly she look at the nearby floor and saw red on the floor and realizes it too last as the lights suddenly turn off and she adds,"Shit."
Mr. Albert and Ariana listened to what James own reply as Edward soon replies, "Well I do control one of the world's largest corporations. As you know the riots of 2019 and the fire that practically burned London to the ground. It is my duty as one as such help people in need."
Turning to Kate he soon adds, "Ah my ability only goes so far, after all we have yet to solve world hunger or many things these days."
Turning back to James he soon realizes, "Ah I remember now you were on my largest and great cruise ships. I do hope your trip was good when you took it."
Of course without knowing what actually happened on that ship James may try to play it off or laugh it off. Well with Ariana and after her 'touch' to the both of them she was completely calm and if she didn't notice it.
"My what is interesting way of saying it, to those who believe or not. To some who believe in their imagination is a powerful thing and to not believe is just as powerful. Sometimes men belief is so strong it leads to destruction of their dreams. Oh even believe they will come again if a danger would present itself. Oh I am getting ahead of myself meeting you was exactly as I thought it would and it is a good thing.", Ariana soon stated back which perked Mr. Albert's eyebrow.
Before he could say anything suddenly the lights and everything began to flicker, which itself was odd. Everyone the the party soon stopped as noticed it too, and even when some checked their smart phones were flickering as well.
"What the...", Edward soon managed to say only for suddenly the power went out.
Everything was silent as wondering if was a power malfunction, which Mr Albert soon says, "Impossible everything is new, so it shouldn't be doing tha-",
Suddenly gun shots could be heard and an explosion from part of the building. At that moment everyone panicked realizing a terrorist attack was occurring. Mr. Albert and Ariana went down to the ground suddenly as not far where Gwen came from a person was flying straight into the wall. Due to how dark it was no would of noticed but the crash could be heard.
Suddenly guards were firing into the hall way with pistols and sub machine guns. The fire would confuse anyone if looked they would soon see something in black armor and pointy ears. Their skin were as pale as ice and they didn't look human. The group of things were stabbing into the guards who were firing at them only for them to be cut open or stabbed. Screams could heard as suddenly an explosion could be heard not far as if from below.
"What in god's name!! Terrorist?!", Mr. Albert only managed to say keeping down.
One of the things soon heard him and turned towards the group where they both along with James and Kate would be. It charged with its black spear and was about to stab at Mr. Albert only for a sword to go through its back.
"Seriously.... why can't these jobs ever be easy!", Gwen stated as she had blood over her dress though it was not hers. A Sword in hand as she looked down at James, Kate, Edward, and Ariana.
"What you going to run or not?", She then asked the group.

[To be completed in the morning]
"But it is already a great thing for you to be able to start working towards your goal, not everyone can give up their own wealth for those in needed."
Though of course many of these problems are not something money alone can solve, but it's better than nothing. At least Kate haven't seen her own family or James go off throwing money to the poor, simply handing them money is not enough, teaching them how to make those money themselves is how one should do it.
"The Cruise was... interesting, so to say. It certainly opened my eyes for new ideas and writing."
And it was true, the only thing he failed to mention is what exactly are those ideas he got on that ship, something that was unnecessary for him to mention about.
While they were continuing their conversation, it was suddenly interrupted by a blackout, followed by screams, gun fire, explosions, and all sort of chaos. Most people would really panic in situations like this, but come on now, after seeing gods and giant monsters it's a walk in the park by now. James' first reaction is to push over a table to block stray gunfire, while Kate was scouting for the best direction to exit from.
The sight of the creatures with pointy ears caught some attention from the two, but it was too dark for James to clearly identify what they are. He was about to intercept one that was charging towards Edward, but the creature was finished off by the strange woman from before. Either way, after seeing a seemingly safe exit, James begins to direct everyone out of the room.
"Alright, move it, move it! Follow my voice and head over here and exit! Do not panic, do not rush, go one by one and make sure you don't trample anyone! Mr. Albert, please go on ahead, we'll come after we made sure everyone else has done the same. No worries, we have... rough experiences in the past, so we'll be fine."
Escorting the group are some of the guards that were fighting the creatures, after all, who knows if there's more of them sneaking around in the building. He himself can't do much, for the sake of keeping magic a secret, so they would have to wait until everyone is gone before he would begin to make his move.
Kate would have less of this restriction, being something she can do in her mind. She sends out a mental message and calls for reinforcements from the three that were resting at their hotel, being unable to bring pets and vampires over to the party, quite unfortunate.
It did not take long before the others in the party was escorted out, leaving only the two of them, the blonde woman, and the guards that are fighting the creatures. Seeing how the guards had already encountered those pointy ear creatures(which he is guessing as goblins or elves of some sort), there's less need to keep it hidden from them. He slowly stepped forward, with Kate following somewhat behind him.
"Why need to run? I haven't done so against happenings much worse than this. You on the other hand looks need you need some help, so I'll be willing to do that in exchange for a fine night out with me here in London hm?"
"James! We're in a battle here!"
"Fufufu, alright, let us begin. Catherine?"
"Hmph. Let the treacherous intentions be cast away! Protect one from harm, prevent one from defeats! Warding Shield!"
Before they enter battle, Kate wave her arm in a fanning manner as she finishes her spell, creating a light blue round shield before James, Gwen, and herself. The shield is a one sided thing, which means it would not block attacks coming from the affected, but would do so for attacks coming towards the affected. A simple protection spell, one that completely depends on how much the caster and the affected wishes to avoid damage, this of course means it works a lot better on James and herself than on Gwen but is still better than nothing.
"I am James Gransela! The welder of words, the one that revives the ancient arts in modern times! I am the Origin Sage! Hear my roar and fall before my wisdom and might!!"
He loudly declares his name, and a few 'titles' for himself. This is not just for show, but in a way like the hypnotizing effect of casting spells, it makes people believes in his power and thus increases his ability in using magic. As soon as he's done, several large spears are launched right towards the mouth of the several of the creatures in armor, as if fired from some sort of harpoon gun.
But that's not all, three Wisps appears begin him, and flies towards the group of creatures in order to light up the area so he can identify them. The sudden light might also cause some blindness, and distract the enemies if they try to attack them.
-
Outside, jumping from rooftops to rooftops in order to avoid detection, are a humanoid figure, a black cat, and a black jackal. No matter how you look at it, there's no reason why these figures would have the physical ability to do something like this, good thing most people would be caring more about the terrorist attack on the ground rather than the sky. The three of them are heading right towards the party site, after receiving the call from Kate about the situation.

"Gwen?!", Ben soon stated from his radio which suddenly stopped working. He soon turned to a nearby computer as the cameras were systemically going haywire leading to a nearby hallway heading his direction.
"So they did come.", Ben soon stated as he soon pressed a button which closed the door to the first hallway.
Below the Grand Museum there was a dozen guards all wearing body armor moving into position as they were preparing to engage the attackers. They took out their customized assault rifles which were different from normal ones. They were all aiming at a closed sealed door waiting for what was to come.
"Stay in position... don't let them through!!:, the head man soon stated as their guns were ready to fire.
At First there was nothing then suddenly the lights began to flicker violently as they were ready then suddenly the room went dark. At first nothing then the door itself was bashed open as flew towards them a few were crushed by the door well the survivors soon began firing their guns toward the darkness. During this Ben and a few others began to move through the control room soon using his radio which stopped worked.
"Radios are down, expected the moment they use magic this happens.", Ben soon stated as he soon began to look where they coming from then suddenly in the room an explosion rocked above their heads.
Ben was pushed hard along with a few others to the ground, when they suddenly saw a few figures appearing before them. The one before them black armor had an addition to a cape and a black crown on his head he threw a blade at Ben as he looked down recognizing it.
"You mortals have tried very hard in trying to stop me, but I beaten the best of you already. There is no hope of you succeeding today human.", the being stated with his men were walking casually into the control room.
Looking down Ben saw the blade on the ground and looked at the man before him with his eyes narrowed down.
"Tell me... why do this?", Ben managed to say as he got up as the being continued to walk forward with his head turned toward another door like he knew where it lead.
"Have you ever lived in fear? Lived knowing your people slowly dying out and nothing left in the world? Everything taken from you and you just accepted your fate?", the being soon stated to Ben.
Ben soon chuckles, "Oh so that's your game... figures."
"No matter, all is left is the final key and then the final seal will be undone. Know this human, your world will forever change.", He stated as he began walking towards the door which suddenly Ben moved.
Moving quickly he pressed a button which activated two slots near the door which revealed turrets which began to fire into the control room, Ben began to take cover. The bullets continued to spread which then suddenly another door was blown open as Ben soon looks up to see what it is.
"You got to be fucking with me.", Ben stated to only barrel roll out of the way even as his fellow knights were smashed by the Hob Goblin.
Once done he soon pulled out a pistol and fired at a nearby Fae which the bullets penetrated the armor and the Fae feeling the pain and dying before him. It was sheer luck that technology has advanced as he has with simply modifying their weapons to use iron for their bullets. Still most humans were not super powerful compared to these beings so they would easy overpower a human. Ben would soon notice the turrets were blown up as the Hob Goblin soon walked towards the nearby door that lead to where the key was for it to simply punch it off its hinges.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
The chaos of the attack and unable to see right was quite understandable for but to suddenly see someone actually know what their doing in this situation was impressive. Gwen noticed the two VIPs were now safe which she looked at Adriana in the eye she nodded back at Gwen helping Edward up from the ground. As both were kept low and James helping the guards get all the civilians out it seemed everything was going as the best it could. Picking up a radio she tried to contact anyone but only to get static which itself was expected.
"My Lady what should we-", the guard was saying only for Gwen to cut him off, "Get all the guests out now, I will handle everything."
Gwen put up her sword and suddenly moved toward the nearest Fae as he tried to slash at her only for her blade cutting his arm off then she kicked him to the ground, ending with a stabbing motion. Picking up her sword she was ready to take on another then turned to notice the two guests she had suspicions earlier showing up.
Turning to see James and Kate she soon heard his proclamation, "Origin Sage? I guess it could be lamer but ok."
Of course it was meant to show she wasn't impressed with his name and titles which sounded quite lame to her. Though suddenly seeing what he just managed to do then she soon adds, "Horrible intro good skills."
Of course the enemy charged at them with their weapons only to be hit by harpoons and blinded by James attack. If this was a cartoon it would be awesome but to Gwen it was just more flash then anything. Regardless she still wondered how the hell he managed to use magic but that question would have to wait for a bit. She picked up her blade and charged at the enemy moving stronger then a human normally would, if James paid attention he would notice she was enhancing her muscles with mana. Due to this she was given temporary superior strength then a human is capable. So far no other magic except having a sword suddenly in her hand it would seem her type of magic was far weaker then what James was capable of. The enemies continue to fight as she cut down one by one with efficiency as good as James could recognize how Gedeon managed to do. Actually the way her moves were eerily similar to that Mage Knight's own movements. As the battle continued with gun fire all over one Fae soon jumped down with its spear coming gwen only for her to sidestep and does a upper slash with her blade which cut the enemy in half. Even that weapon itself didn't look or act like a normal blade. In fact it was killing all the enemies so easily and if they notice that parts of the bodies hit by her blade would eventually turn into dust. When most of it done they would get a moment of rest as the fighting was mostly done by now. Dead bodies both human and these things were on the floor. It was enough time for him to see what they were dealing with, specifically how he could recognize on what they were as he knew their lore.
"So what is your story?", Gwen managed to say walking towards the two with her dressed ruined and blood all over. She continued to hold her blade then sets put it down to the ground.
Looking closely they could recognize the engravings similar to old Celtic and a symbol at the hilt. Of course if they knew their myth it was after all the sword Lancelot used in his days when he was a Knight of the Round Table. The others were staring at James and Kate, after all they just did things they didn't believe they would see done so easily. Though the moment was enough to catch breath suddenly one would hear a roar and not too far where the stage was suddenly exploded up as a large being coming up from the ground. Its large muscles and look would crush a man so quickly with the other surviving guards all put their weapons up at the beast but they was fear in their eyes.
"You got to be bloody kidding me, they brought a Hob Goblin of all things.", Gwen soon annoyingly stated as she readied her blade.

"I can see training as a combatant sure drain the effort that you might have spent on manners, let me teach you one thing, manners are just as important as physical strength when it comes to dealing with magic. When you're encountering creatures of unknown ability, you certainly don't want to make it worse by accidentally insulting them."
He did notice her fighting style, something similar to the mage knight that's he last heard was still laying on a bed. She also share similar attitudes, not sure how he should think about that. Considering she was sent here as scout or spy or some sort, you'd think she would at least know how to show some respect to others if only to keep her cover on.
"It's not an intro, it's a charm on yourself and your opponents. The purpose is not to sound 'cool' so to speak, but to fortify one's advantage in battle."
It's like when he first met Gedeon back on the cruise ship, lots of explanation to someone that might have otherwise obtained some knowledge in the past, yet not nearly enough in his opinion. The sword was some what interesting, an ancient artifact if it's the real thing, but compared to what he has seen and possess it's not enough to bring much reaction from him during battle. That said, neither did the coming enemies and their spears, which couldn't even stab through the shields that Kate had set up.
Seeing that the enemies did not have any special reaction towards the wisps, he simply had them blow up in the middle of the enemy ranks. He made sure they done it in a timing that it won't hit the guards fighting nearby, so friendly fire shouldn't be a problem. And it did not take long before the battle ended, not much effort was needed, at least it was so in his opinion. Compared to Gwen who was fighting in the front, to say James and Kate seem relatively clean is an understatement, in fact they look just the same as they did during the party.
"We're simply at the right place at the right time, in other words you got lucky."
"We were invited the party of course. My name is Kate Casimir, and this is James Gransela, a pleasure to meet you."
While Kate introduces the two of them to the woman, the ground starts to rumble, the stage bursts open to reveal a large humanoid climbing out of the hole that's created. It might be a fairly danger looking creature, but James continue to look unamused. Instead he looks up at the ceiling, seemingly checking for something.
"Lets see... a bit more to the left... no too much, somewhat to the right... yes, right there."
A small hole is then created on the roof, and out comes a bluish figure. Mei Mei, who was summoned over along with Annie and Beatrice, kicks right through the solid roof and directly towards the hobgoblin. With a 45 degree angle kick right on the side of the monster's head, there was enough force to 'slice' its head apart, and sending the head flying before the creature's body falls to the ground with a thud.
"And these are my servants, Mei Mei, Annie, and Beatrice."
Instead of jumping like before, the Jiangshi seems to have evolved to the point where she can use her joints again, and walks over to James before bowing to him to report her success. Annie and Beatrice are still in their animal form, and watches the knight while standing on the Jiangshi's shoulders.
"So, how about you explain yourselves? I won't have to deal with you all next do I?"
As he says that, Mei Mei quickly turns around to face the rest of the group, keeping James and Kate behind her to cover for them just in case. However Kate hurries to calm them down.
"James, just because she suddenly took a shot at your name doesn't mean you need to get angry at them, lets hear them out first."
Looks like he wasn't too happy about the comments earlier, or rather only a masochist would like getting attacked or insulted, so it's a normal reaction. That said, he wasn't going on the offensive, he's simply listening to what they have to say.

The entire room were utterly speechless on what occurred next, expecting a hob goblin they thought they would have more casualties. But to have none and how easily they took down the hob goblin now the guards were wondering who the hell they were.
"Well now... that I didn't expect.", Gwen soon managed to say putting her blade down a bit as the threat was killed before she even have to lift a finger.
When the next part was stated Gwen's eyes narrowed as she was about to ready to defend herself suddenly Kate stopping them meant they had someone reasonable.
"My getting all angry over something so minor, the assistant seems more reasonable then the actual man himself. A pity.", Gwen then added as one of the guards ran up to and whispers, "We lost contact with the control room as well anything leading towards where the key is."
Getting a bit anxious on what is going on down below especially with the Hob Goblin coming from directly as she feared she soon nodded then turns to the two guests.
"Well since we running out of time I will make it short, my name is Gwen. If you wish to help we will gladly accept it since right now I am heading down. If you wish to come well you can see for yourself what we are dealing with.", Gwen soon stated as she began to turn and head toward a nearby elevator.
As she walked she soon stops and adds, "Mr. Gransela, let's just say we are not the enemy here."
She would soon enter the elevator and see if they would follow her down. If they choose to do so she would give a smirk and once the doors closed suddenly armor began to appear over her body. The Ruined dress gone now a relic armor which looks something out of the medieval days was on her. She would wait a moment for James to even ask any questions and reply in kind.
"You are probably wondering who I am, I am apart of well how so do you put it. An organization who's sole purpose to protect Britain from the super natural. We been protecting Britain for about oh I will say at least a thousand years.", Gwen would soon state as the elevator continued down.
The other guards were on edge but they kept silent on everything and trusted Gwen far more with their lives. She would soon wait to hear anything else he would like to ask after all it was the time to ask now.
As the elevator comes to the end the door would open slowly to see smoke in the air, smelling like gun fire. As they would move through they would soon notice dead bodies from both the enemy and the fellow humans who were wearing tactical clothing. On the floor one could notice bullet casing all over as well blood all around. They would then be lead by Gwen well other guards put their guns up as they moved deeper inside. When they come up to the hallway, with a door unhinged they would noticed the Hob Goblin from earlier came through here. The lights itself were flickering as they were damaged but still everyone would move slowly toward the control room. When they came up to another door they would notice a small fire in the control room but also how it looked ruined. Dead bodies littered the floor as the group would spread out. Looking around with their weapons they would soon stopped as Gwen looked at the door leading to the key.
"No... the key!!", Gwen would soon state as she moved quickly to go through the door way which also was unhinged out.
As she ran inside she soon began to run up soon hear a clash of weapon against weapon, before Gwen, her brother Ben was fighting the crown prince who soon stabbed Ben right into the heart with he screams in pain.
"Just a pity, your mentor did such a better job against me.", the black armored figured soon stated as his sword was pulled out of his body.
"BEN!!", Gwen soon screamed out as she charged at the Prince only for him to bring out a staff which he slammed down to the ground which pushed her fully back toward the ground.
"Ah, so you have come as well and... strange.", the figure soon stated as he senses James and the others as his own eyes narrowed at the unexpected visitor.
Gwen was being forced to the ground as he looked on towards these other new comers not sure who they were.
"It seems we have some guests, strange I sense strong power coming from you. As well familiars? Hrmm and here I thought the mortal realm had lost most of its magic. It seems I was mistaken and you are?", the black armored figure soon asked James.

"It might seem minor, but that's only based on your own values. If you expect to live long in this business, it's good to listen sometimes, especially when so many things in this world refuses to do so."
He wasn't so angry that he plans to kill someone, rather slightly annoyed by lack of acknowledgement of his his ability and position. It's one thing to not like being surrounded by the mass, it's another to be completely ignored when you in a way received help from him, after all, a simple thanks would be nice. It might not be much, but at times that's all people are looking for.
"You'll be surprised at how many deity are willing to kill just a tiny bit of disrespect towards them, and I'm pretty sure you don't want to experience for yourself on how bad it might be, trust me."
Their short exchanged has gotten him to ignore those comments earlier, it's not something to hold a grudge on anyways. He wasn't specifically interested in learning about the attack, however it won't be a bad idea to figure out more about this group of people. The young woman before him might not be much respectful towards him, but at least they're not at each others throats, so going with them could be among the choice he could take.
In the elevator, he let her explain herself. James and Kate didn't really want to reveal their own cards all that much, considering they're trying to keep magic a secret here, not risk spreading it even if this group already had prior knowledge of it. That said, for a group that are suppose to have a thousand year worth of experience they sure didn't do their job too well, at least not this time. They do, however, wisely chose to not voice it.
"Hm, a thousand year you say. What kind of scale are we talking about here? An army? or a handful of agents like you? Because so far you're the only one I've seen with some magical abilities."
He wasn't exactly expecting an army of mages, but it would be interesting to hear about a dozen or two people that have a different type of history with magic. Perhaps he could compare what they use with his own theory to figure out more efficient ways of using magic?
"Interesting armor, suits you fine. But I'd be careful of things that comes at you with non-physical means."
By appearance, perhaps. He himself is not going to wear something heavy on him, he have his servants and magic to protect him, no need to carry an extra 20-40 pound over him. That said, for those that relies on different methods to fight, it's not a bad idea to have extra protection... as long as it's against physical attacks.
When they arrived, James did not like how it looks. The group that was here had a tough battle, and if the hob goblin came from here, they certainly had failed at their job. And that's confirmed when they see the other man being killed by the mysterious figure. Whatever the man in front of them is, he sure haven't came on vacation. James looks at the man with a look towards fools, the man certainly does not understand how it works here.
"That's because you think of magic like this, as something that are unique and make one special, keeping it away from the mass. When people forget the existence of beings such as yourself, you won't no longer be able to project yourself in this world, and merely remain as shadows to the people of this world. A shadow might be able to scare people from time to time, but it can't do anything towards it."
He's not sure who this person is, or what kind of ability he's got, but obviously he's of higher class than the grunts these people killed upstairs. If they need to fight, they would need someone with a bit more ability, as shown in how he simple knocked the woman side with little effort.
"Perhaps you would like to have a match with me? It's unrighteous to fight those without the ability to defend themselves is it not? I am James Gransela, the one who had revive the ancient arts in modern times."
He reached inside his dress jacket, and pulls out some sort of tome, which is strange as something of that size shouldn't be able to fit inside his jacket. The trick here is similar to what the knights here did, he wrote the tome himself, as such it is a part of him that he can summon from thin air. The book could be destroyed, but could easily be rebuilt as it is made out of his own mana, he had created a magical artifact in modern times and one with great power thanks to his status as the one that revived the lost art.
The tome itself might not have as much history as the Book of Coming Forth by Day, but it certainly gives off as much power as the Egyptian artifact. The tome he have now contains the magic and adventurers James had experienced on their journeys, and is more than enough to turn a regular book into a magical artifact when he uses his own mana and words to seal power into the book. However at this level, you would need enough power of your own to even detect the ability of these artifact, and of course the user himself. If the being in front of him is powerful enough, he should be able to feel the threat of the professor, who seems to be otherwise unarmed in terms of weapons.
"Fight or flee, take your choice."
Mei Mei quickly moves in front of him, looking at the armored figure with her green eyes. She gets ready and change to a fighting stance, ready to deliver quick and powerful killing strikes to the target before her. The two animals that stood on her shoulders jumps down and stands on the ground, looking at him with similar looks, ready to fight when called for.

Earlier in the Elevator Gwen heard James comment which she soon chuckles about respect which she soon replies, "Sometimes you got to earn respect you know."
Of course she meant such as she soon heard of how big they were she was not going to reveal much only with,"Enough that we can hide the fact there is magic in this world"
She was silent after that but she wasn't 100 percent trusting this man fully but enough that he is obviously not an enemy as he would comment about her armor as they were about to exit the elevator Gwen soon adds,"Don't worry this is not an normal armor either."
Gwen was on the ground as everything hurt as she was so easily pushed aside like a rag doll on the ground she saw the body of her younger brother lifeless and next to him she saw it. She recognized the blade all too well which was the blade by her mentor. She looked closely now and felt how screwed they were now. The "Key" which was the Staff was in his hands which meant the last seal what was all was left.
"Ah a mortal who rediscovered the past then. Interesting on the knowledge you know mortal, it is rare to see such one as yourself in this mortal world." the mortals and others before him now.
It was pretty obvious to him that he sense a magical power similar to the staff itself in the hands of this mortal. Of course a true wizard would be quite dangerous and this James Gransela gave off a feeling someone just as dangerous. Not to mention he noticed the three others with this mortal which gave off more warning to his head. Mei Mei and the others attack would soon come toward the dark armored figure as he activated the staff at full power which was strong enough to push all three back. Of course he was surprised how hard he had to do it but never the less he didn't fully show it by words but by his face. That is if James notice and would know he had the advantage. Keeping his cool he soon got back into his domineering stance then talks once more as a portal began to form behind him.
"A fair fight? Do you believe I am that honorable when humans have done far worse to my people. I do not have time to deal with you mortal though I shall remember your name human, James Gransela is it? I will give you this warning and those who attempt to stop us. Judgment is at hand and you or anyone can stop us! With this staff in hand I will reawaken the witch and soon all of Britain will know fear and know this. This is a declaration of War on all of humanity. We the Unseelie Court have determined your time is nigh, humanity must be purged for the sake of the world. For I am the direct descendant of Mab the last son and Crown Prince of Alfheimr, I am Mathor. Remember it well, Sage James Gransela.", Mathor soon stated as he quickly retreated inside the portal to avoid to being attacked once more.
To some it would look like he was completely in control in reality he was forced to retreat against these new enemies he didn't expect. It was both a victory and a defeat on the Mage Knight's side but at the same time it was worrisome on what he would do next.
Gwen managed to get up only to rush toward the other blonde man on the ground as she soon checked on him. When she saw his lifeless body she soon would close his eyes and put his hands together.
"Damn it... ", Gwen managed to say as more reinforcements showed up from above their guns raised as another older man walked in with a cane in hand.
"What in heavens name happened!! You better got a good explanation Dame Lac!!!", The man would state he looked at James and the others with his own eyes raised.
"As well who the bloody are you?!", he soon asked as he huffed a bit seeing James and the others.
Gwen soon kissed the forehead of the dead comrade and bother and soon got up as she soon says, "Knight Commander if it wasn't for him it would of been far worse. He is James Gransela an Origin Sage, he and his party helped us around this day."
Gwen didn't cry no she was hiding herself and kept herself composed even as she may have lost her beloved brother. Not to mention she even gave his self proclaimed title to the Knight-Commander which as she knew Mathor fled the moment James power was slowly showing. In a way she owed her life to him in a twist and she would explain the best she could.
"Well that doesn't matter the real issue here we lost Merlin's Staff and now Mathor will likely head to where the Witch is sealed!! You realized how utterly incomprehensible if she wakes up?! It could be the very well the end of all of Britain as we know it!!", the man soon huffed again even being overweight and having a cane to walk, James could see him being comical in a way.
"Knight Commander I suggest we get help.", Gwen soon suggested which the Knight Commander looked at Gwen like she was crazy.
"Help? By the bloody German?! Why would we want "his" organization's help anyways!!", the Knight Commander soon revealed as he never liked them.
"Because Knight Commander do you want all of Britain to become a battlefield between us AND the Unseelie Court?! He is reliable and an ally not to mention if wind gets to my father..", Gwen soon was suggesting which the Knight Commander soon raised his hand and finally caves.
"Oh Fine! Damn it woman always using the Lord Commander's good name like this.", he soon stated as he turned to James he soon pointed his cane then says to James, "For now you are a lucky man, just know this if you risk Britain in any way I will personally have you flogged."
Leaving the room which would leave Gwen with James and the others with her soon saying to them, "I think I should start from the beginning huh."

"Of course I expected a fair fight, you can infinitely expand your bias view to the entire humanity as much as you want, doesn't mean I have to follow your standard. Or would you want me to treat you the same way as a slime hm? And perhaps you are misinformed, I haven't rediscovered magic, I created a new method of using it without the same restriction of the past. You probably won't believe it, so I won't go into details. And Mab... fairy... Queen Mab I suppose?... hold on, Queen Mab was suppose to be the size of an agate-stone, so the size of a fist. You certain look bigger than that, hm, interesting."
He was certainly going off topic, not even slightly worried about the threats of the fairy knight. After all, last time in Egypt they faced two deities, and they're more powerful than the man before him. If their group try something of that level, more powerful beings will certain stop them before it gets too bad, in a way it both gave and lost him some confident in the safety of the world.
Mei Mei, Annie, and Beatrice was forced back by the staff, but they managed to recover their stance without any damage. It's one thing if the man is using it to cast magic, but simply knocking them back is not going to do much damage unless you're overwhelmingly powerful. It is similar to how two people are pushing at each other, one of them will have to be much stronger to easily push away the other, and that's not the case here.
He did not try to stop the man from escaping, it would be a waste of efforts. If the man could easily open that portal, he would be able to close it just as easy. However it did give him knowledge about what the man can do, next time they meet it won't be so easy. When the 'reinforcements' arrived, James and Kate looks at them with somewhat annoyed looks. Kate sees it somewhat often, the kind of rich and cocky type of guys that overstates their wealth and connections, but on their own could do little more than yelling and spitting. James is looking at him like an annoying critter, barking and yelling at people for no good reason, blaming their own failure on others.
"Boy, is the English Gentleman trend not popular anymore in London? I could have swear the last time I meet others here they were much more benevolent than this. I suppose I shouldn't follow others problems, so I must ask you to watch your steps as you go."
And of course that was not a friendly warning, he quietly casts the Induce Drunkenness spell on the fat man, without pronouncing the words. This method of casting is something he picked up from Gedeon, it may weaken the spell, but it sure makes it difficult to detect. Who knows, perhaps the guy might accidentally trip and fall down the stairs when he leaves the building or something.
After the man and his team leaves, Gwen approaches to talk to the two, but was stopped by Kate.
"How about we have our discussion somewhere else instead? This is not exactly a secure location, and the law enforcement will likely to arrive soon. You also look like you could get some rest after that experience, and maybe some medical attention too? We're staying at a local hotel, perhaps you could meet us there after you get ready."
"Indeed, I prefer speaking to a lady when she's not covered in blood. This is my room number if you want to speak to me, I prefer to not be called after 11, and before 9, so please don't do that unless absolutely emergency."
Kate hands the other woman a note containing the address of the hotel and the room number, and turns to leave the room before any reporters comes on scene.
"By the way, if you're interested I can bring them back to life, but not as humans. So I'll let you think about that, and decide if you want my help for that or not. Have a nice evening, miss. Perhaps next time we meet you can tell me what your name is."

The Knight Commander walked off only to fall to the ground suddenly after talking with James and would soon leave the group alone. Gwen turned to the others as she was about to explain the situation and then hearing about not talking among the dead bodies she soon agreed to their idea. As they were leaving she looked at the number she required to talk to them later, she would soon see them about to leave.
"Gwen, Gwen Lac. Also no I don't believe the dead should be made to come back, after all what is the point of the living wanting something the dead did for us.", Gwen managed to reply to James revealing her identity and if James thought hard with a familiarly of a last name.
With that done the entire grand museum would be locked down, when exiting James would notice various men in suits were beginning what would look like a clean up. Not to mention it seemed the group James just met was likely far larger then he thought. As they would come out of the Grand Museum there was already a line of police and others keeping media and others away. One thing for sure it would be on the top world news that a terrorist attack just occurred. As they would soon be escorted through along the crowd now they could get away now away from the museum and it would seem it was not a normal night for James and his company.
_______________________________________________________________________________
"It would seem Mathor gained the key.", a man stated from his desk as he was wearing a fine suit as he sat on his desk.
"Along with many of our men slain we lost your son as well.", another man who also wore a suit sat before the other man as the night was dark.
"His majesty would question his government in allowing multiple 'terrorist' attacks these last few years. Elections coming up and our Noble Party must not look weak.", the man at the desk got up and looked at the window of the London landscape which was being rebuilt.
"Prime Minister Lac, the media are in a frenzy, first we lost Cambridge and now this. We cannot keep covering all the holes with just terrorist attacks. The people will want answers as well his Majesty as well, if RISA gets wind of this..", the other man was saying with the Prime Minister George Lac turned to look out the window.
"They will not find out, get a hold The Order of the Holy Lance. I hate to admit it but we cannot hold Mathor back when we lost half of our men in the last week. We have to stamp them out before all hallows eve.", George soon stated as his glasses flickered a moment.
_______________________________________________________________________________
The next day Gwen came to the hotel, with the news in the background as she entered the hotel. Looking around she would soon go up to the floor and room James along with Kate would be staying at. As she entered the elevator she saw her clock which meant they were on time. As the elevator soon came up to the proper floor she headed toward where the room would be and soon felt the mana likely a ward on the door. She would soon knock and wait for an answer when it opens she soon says, "I do hope you had a good night sleep because you won't have time for it later. Come with me, we can discuss on the way over to the harbor."
Of course that alone would come off a bit arrogant or even bossing them along. Regardless they had to pick up other guests who would be arriving which then they have to head to meet the leader of the Order.
"Before you complain we need to pick up other guests, then you will meet with the head of our order Mister Gransela and Miss Casimir. Due to the heighten security you won't be able to meet him without going through this way. So the quickest route is to come with us you can bring everyone with you.", Gwen would state as she would wait outside for them to be ready but soon adds, "Please."
Once done she would lead them back down the hotel and into a special group of SUV's that would be waiting at the entrance. Once inside the SUV's would begin moving as Gwen would seat down to the side of the front seat waiting to be asked a question.
To make it at ease she soon adds, "When we get to the harbor we will be greeting some allies who will be helped. Then we will head to the head of the order which he will explain the fully situation. If your wondering our name we are called His Majesty's Order of Camlann Mage Knights."
That alone would give more information on who James was dealing with and now make sense on how old their order is. The vehicles would go through the London as they could notice how half of the buildings been already reconstructed. The entire city was on alert, police wearing their yellow jackets could be seen as well drones in the sky looking over the city. They would go through multiple check points until they finally arrive at the harbor. The SUV's would all stop with everyone getting out into the early morning. Looking around Gwen soon walk up as her jacket was fixed as they would soon wait.

The two did not say anything, which is not exactly a good sign. They had figured it out from Gwen's last name that she's a relative, perhaps the daughter of current Prime Ministers, but there's no authority she could use on the two. They're not British, not a citizen of the United Kingdoms, no matter kind of organization they are, there should be no reason why James and Kate to follow their orders. They did however, went with her for now, despite being speechless at how much this organization is trying to test their patients.
"I left the address so that you can communicate me, not draft me to battle. Canada might be among the oldest allies of England, but that doesn't mean we're servants to the ally nation, and the two of us certainly should deserved more than what we've seen so far. From what I hear your organization is looking for help against something you cannot deal with, creating more enemies sure won't help you one bit."
After the two human and three familiars got into the SUV, James begin talking to the woman that suddenly appeared and wanted them to follow without question. It was starting to get annoying on how these people seem to have no matters, and are simply pushing the two of them around like they wish. He could have swore he was in England in modern times and not Moscow back when Soviet Union was still around, otherwise he should be able to have more say in what he wants to do, and he sure didn't hesitate to show his annoyance with his words.
"How about you people not try to keep everything a secret? Perhaps you might want to do so for safety reasons, but if you're not willing to explain yourselves, how are you expecting others to follow you? No matter how rushed you are, I think you have enough time to at least try and be friendly to us do you not? Even animals have feelings, and we're humans here."
Kate usually have a fairly well temper, better than James at least, but it doesn't mean she's willing to just stand there and be a sandbag. She's starting to consider if she should just hypnotize everyone here with her spells to get some answers, just that she thinks it would not be good for their coming relationship to resort to such reckless actions, so for now she leaves them with a few comments and let James draw something from the woman.
"Let me get this straight, we're not in any sort of obligation to help, even if it is morally wrong I can still turn away from any sort of coming disasters brought upon this land. Whatever it is you people cannot deal with, I would not care what they might do here, I could simply deal with them when they arrive before me. Right now there's nothing that is persuading us to assist your organization, I think you would like to consider that when you make any more rushed decisions."
It was quite early, so early that James did not really want to do anything yet, so pulling him out to the world so early definitely worked against the organization that wanted his help. At this rate he might be more interested in helping that armored man instead, at least the figure had some acknowledgement of his abilities and is willing to give a suitable amount of respect in accordance.
Mei Mei, didn't say anything, but she did show that she shares her master's opinion in what is happening. She stares at the driver's seat with her green glowing eyes, if she wants she could easily deliver a blow enough to pierce through these seats and through the driver's body. If James gives out the orders to do so, the man's life could have ended on the spot. He's lucky that he's driving, and might cause some danger to the group if they crazy, or else someone might have gotten hurt... a lot.
Annie and Beatrice had their attitude for slightly different reason as the other three. Annie, technically is a servant of Anubis, as such she also view others through the values of the god of judgment. At the moment, these people sure aren't fulfilling their basic duty as a human with manners, as such they could be considered sinners by Anubis' book. Mean while, Beatrice is Bastet's servant, so she is naturally more aggressive when it comes to a fight. In a way, the cat is more eager for battle than the Jiangshi that the two are sitting on.
But for now, none of them further show their displeasure towards the organization, and leaves the vehicle after Gwen. They would follow her, but it's clear that the group would turn and leave if they are anymore rude than they showed themselves to be. Guess after a few hundred years the whole Knight Chivalry has long disappeared from a part of their codes, James had met even mercenaries and bandits with more manners than the level these guys are showing at the moment. Rashidi back in Egypt is a good example, even if it was an act, the guy managed to do it well enough to get the others to fall for his tricks.

Luck would have it that Dieter was in one of his group's chapter houses in the mountains of Germany when they received a call to action from the group in Britain. They were on-again-off-again allies of the Camlann Knightly Order, as it were. Though they opposed one another on several occasions, particularly when Britain still held an empire, for the last five or so decades relations had been cordial enough. Both groups were looking out for their nations, even if Dieter's outlook was broader in scope, so they had some common ground and means to work together. The Lancers tended to leave England to the Knights, with most of their influence in the Isles being confined to Ireland and a few independent agents on the larger island to keep an eye on such places as Stonehenge. So as it were, they were fortunate to both have people nearby to help, and the enigmatic leader of the group himself there to answer.
He was at his desk reading through some files that his scouts had uncovered from around the world, regarding interesting magical phenomena. A cat was sprawled on his lap and purring softly, one hand stroked its fur while the other flipped through the aforementioned folders. The occultist was very engrossed in his work, some of these reports were very troubling. Places such as the Bermuda Triangle were apparently causing more trouble than ever, and that was only the beginning to the strangeness in the Atlantic Ocean...the phone beside him ringing didn't make him jump, he was too calm for that, but it did catch him by surprise. The man didn't tend to take calls directly, they routed through his subordinates, so for one to get transferred straight to him implied great importance. For that reason, no time was wasted in answering.
"It's me."
"Yes."
"I see. Yes. I figured that would happen."
"Here? Somewhat, yes, but our own tend to be more...benign, than yours. For whatever reason, they seem to be more active the further north one goes. But you already know that..."
"It's how bad?"
"I understand. I'll be there by tomorrow morning. I'll tell you where to meet me in just a moment..."
Dieter mentioned what city he'd be arriving at and a rough time, pending ship schedules, and then hung up once the plans were set in stone. He calmly organized his files and dropped them into a desk drawer to peruse later, or perhaps have one of his lieutenants do so if he would be out for too long. Once done, he slumped back heavily into his chair with a sigh. Fingers rubbed softly at tired eyes in silence.
"No rest for the wicked." A voice chimed from on his lap.
The man laughed. "You're one to talk, considering your origin."
"Hmm...maybe."
"Now move, there's work to be done." He told the animal. The cat scampered off of his lap summarily.
It might look to be a weird scene for anyone watching, but that was no ordinary cat. It had came from the Egyptian goddess, and by rights, was smarter than most people. As a familiar, it knew quite a bit about magic, and other things on top of that. Time spent with it had been very productive, and if nothing else, it had very interesting perspectives on a lot of situations. A very archaic perspective, considering, but that was a boon in some cases. Gerhardt stood and headed for the door without another word, there were things he had to do before leaving for England...
-
The harbor the group waited at was quiet. It wasn't yet late enough for fishermen to set sail to go try and ply their trades, and in fact, most people were still in bed. The ferries were running, but they were far from full. The one taken by Dieter was empty of anyone not part of his company, and that was without having to arrange it. The ship tacked across the English Channel lazily, James, Gwen, and their assorted hangers-on watched it grow from a small spec on the horizon up to the size of a vessel large enough to fit a handful of cars and a hundred or so passengers at peak times of transit. Not so much now. A pair of cars, Volkswagen Apollos, cruised down the ramp slowly once it had docked and came to a stop about 50 feet from the group. The driver of the lead car got out and waved, even at a distance, James would recognize the man immediately.
Double-breasted suit. Long coat. Comb-over haircut. Tiny mustache. Aviator sunglasses to block out the sun...
"Professor. We really must stop meeting like this, don't you think?" The man called out with a laugh. A pair of bodyguards dressed similarly followed behind their boss, but kept a respectful distance. Dieter offered a hand to James and Kate to shake, and then Gwen. "Professor Gransela, Miss Casimir...and you must be Gwen Lac. I've heard much."
Introductions were kept fairly brief. Considering how dire things were, the cliffnotes he got on the phone were bad enough, he assumed they didn't want to waste time and would rather get rolling to their HQ to explain everything in detail all in one fell swoop. As for the new women and the vampire, whom Dieter knew much less personally, he merely nodded in greeting. Although he 'met' the two girls from the end of their last adventure, he had never been formally introduced, so he left it at that. Once pleasantries were out of the way, the German waved a hand towards his vehicles, saying, "I took the liberty of bringing some bodyguards on the off chance that we're waylaid. After the other night, one can't be too sure. Now, I believe we have somewhere to be where we can talk in private. Shall we proceed?"
It went without saying that he'd be lending more aid than what was brought, but he couldn't say that out here in the open, nor bring them all in at once magically while the nation was on alert. There were things underway, but no one needed to hear about them until they were in a secure area where they could speak freely and figure out what was going on. Gerhardt and company headed back to their cars and from there, would follow the Knight's SUV's towards the HQ of the Order. Then they could get this situation hammered out once they knew more.
It appeared that fate once again brought the group together. It seemed that the allies Gwen talked about were none other than Dieter and his mysterious organization, once again wrapped up in the supernatural. Before going leaving for England, Tamara was extended the offer to come along. She had been in his care for sometime, since Gedeon got put into a coma, and this seemed like it would be a decent test of her skills...and self control, ideally.
