[Introduction]
As I have mentioned before, I plan to have a mini-RPG on an alternative timeline of UC. However instead of writing up a backstory, I wanted everyone to have a chance at affecting the past, and having some "heroic deeds" for their PC or their commander. The "affect-able" timeline will start at 0069, and would be based on a mix of the Gundam wiki timeline, and the Japanese Universal Century Timeline.
[How to deal with the timeline]
The timeline would be from 0069 January, and ends at 0087 March(AEUG's operation to steal the Gundam Mk-II). Any of the players can attempt to affect the historic outcome as much as they want, provided that it is reasonable, you're not going to warp from Side 3 to Earth in a day and you're not going to be able to command the entire army of EFF or Zeon. When you want to change the timeline, you'll have to post in the related thread containing the timeline at the time, and you'll have to "compete" with other players in changing the timelines in different ways. A simple example would be as a medium rank commander you convince the Zeon R&D(or something) to choose the Gyan over the Gelgoog, thus the Gyan line(High Mobility Gyan, Gyan Cannon, etc) would be produced in large amounts while Gelgoog would become a rarer unit. However if a second player chooses to do the same but for the Gelgoog, the two action would "cancel out", and the result would follow history. (So Gelgoogs would be preferred)
For major battles, players can shift the tide of battles by joining in as pilots or commanders, the number of player and the setting of these players would affect the outcome of the battle. Remember combat is not the only thing you can do, there are other actions that could affect the outcome, such as early scouting or researching.
[What is "reasonable"]
By reasonable, I mean you can't out of the air decided that Char is a threat to humanity in the future and assassinate him, nor can you seek out Amuro as a baby and kill him before he could get into the Gundam. All affecting actions must be done in character, so your knowledge are limited to what your character would reasonably know. A higher rank would likely mean I'll give you more freedom in your actions, however there would be a limit on the rank of your characters, at the moment I'll allow up to the rank of Captain/Lieutenant for your PC/future commander, any higher would have to be "earned" during the timeline.
[The effects of your actions]
You might wonder what and who will determine the outcome. Well, it'll be me, I'll try to give a balanced and reasonable response. If you have complains, bring it up to me in the chat, but I won't guarantee that complains would be accepted. Most if not all the actions would change the timeline, and should result in an alternative universe that is different enough to be interesting, the actual RPing starts after the timeline changes are completed.
[Historic Protection and Abilities of Existing Characters]
To put it in simple words, "Canon" characters are harder to kill other than the event where they did get killed in history. For example both Gihren and Revil are pretty much immortal until Operation Star One. Some characters are also more "powerful" than others, "main characters" like Amuro and Char are not going to get defeated by a random newbie out of "sheer luck", even the supporting characters would be really skilled compared to most pilots. You'll have a chance if you decided to fight them, but the odds would surely be against you, unless you have a character that focused everything into this category. But even so it's likely that Amuro would be counting as he kills your guys, and Kycillia would assassinate you if you try too hard on spreading your influence in Zeon.
[Unit spec, character ability, etc]
As with the last RPG, it's going to be a small scale one, so I'm not going to bother with those systems at all. We all have a general idea on how good units are, so hopefully we won't have any arguments over "damages". You're free to be a Newtype, Oldtype, Cyber Newtype/Reinforced Human, what so ever, if you want something strange, bring it up to me.
[Character types]
Anything, but if you for some reason decided to be a civilian, don't blame me if you get locked up for touching a top secret military weapon. If you're a EFF general, you're not going to be piloting a MS or tank and charge ahead either. Zeons have a bit more freedom with that, but you won't have nearly as much resources to play around with on that side. As I have mentioned, piloting is not the only thing you can do, a few choice includes the espionage department, supply corp, military R&D, and commanders. There are probably more that I didn't think of at the time, but use some of your imaginations to plan on what you want to do. You're free to multi-task, so there's no need to restrict yourself to one job, we need more skilled officers to win this war on either side!
[Last word]
Have fun, it's the reason why we have RPGs. If you stop posting and drag out the RPG, we'll likely skip your turn. Give me a few days before I get the timeline up. Done.
