So I've been thinking about doing a Cold War idea. But it would be a multifaceted idea that involves more new ideas to make that idea function. Hence the Idea Bucket.
Plus sometimes I forget to write things down or think it might not be a good idea. Or I feel like I need a second opinion. But Ed's too much of a stuck up bastard to talk about it usually.
First idea.
So since I was trying to come up with shit for that cold war idea I had. Me and Ed were talking about payment in the RPs. Paychecks make it easy for everyone to play it fast and loose, but makes territory worthless beyond RP fluff. Where as TW makes one side give up as soon as they lose a territory because of the fact their enemy will have more money.
So I was thinking of breaking up the effect of having a territory captured. I know we had territory bonuses before. But I was thinking what if each 'Territory' is divided into four pieces. Each piece is worth a small portion of the total worth. But ultimately the bonus for having the majority under you control is what yields you the most.
Example
Each piece is worth $200. For a total of $800 or $1000. I haven't decided how many pieces it should be.
But the TW bonus is $500.
So assuming it's four pieces. You have to control 3 to get the bonus. And I was thinking as a rule. If it's evenly split. The previous majority holder retains the bonus.
The idea is to make people disperse their forces out. Instead of lumping them all into one giant army.
I was also thinking that trade could play a bigger role in the overall economy. I was also thinking of making trade raiding simple. Where you just situation ships in a trade lane. And they steal some of the income from your enemy. The more ships the better. To the point of creating a blockade with sufficient number.
Obviously the other player can dispatch a force to dislodge them. And there will have to be rules for that. But for now I need some sleep.
