"Sir! Multiple unconfirmed jump points opening!" An officer reported from the Sarcanus Command center.
On the massive screen revealed sixteen Odin Class exploration ships as well as their escorts and support craft. The Southern Exploration Fleet.
"They're requesting video message with us," The officer said with a concerned look.
Vice Admiral Gansi Senesta motioned for her to put it up.
"I hope your lost, Vice Admiral," Gansi remarked with a gruff exterior.
The man on screen is Vice Admiral Ceren Kensie. Formerly bodyguard to the Cirenia's father. He had left his side a few years ago to take command of the Exploration Fleet. Popular theory is that he was assigned to the Exploration fleet as punishment. To keep him as far from the Empire as possible.
"I have need to speak with Patriel Sarcanus and a man in his company," The Vice Admiral said calmly, his voice and expressions betraying not emotions, but no disrespect as well.
"We had a recent breach. An assassin tried to kill Patriel. Only they found his brother and he dispatched the assassin," Gansi told him informally.
Ceren nodded in regards to being informed of such a thing. "He's a good brother then. If need be, I'm willing to meet him aboard a Sarcanus station or ship." he said with a strong gaze that impressed the importance he felt.
Duke Sarcanus interceded on the message. Appearing on screen with the Imperial Admiral. "I will allow it. However, he is not here."
A few hours later Patriel arrived on the Bastard. Instantly becoming tense upon seeing the Southern Exploration Fleet parked within Sarcanus space.
It wasn't long before he was clued in to the situation. Though his father insisted they carry out their meeting at the station. Which was more secure and could provide better survival in the event of an attack. Patriel took the meeting aboard the The Bastard.
As soon as the Vice Admiral was in the same room. Patriel triggered the anti-surveillance equipment.
"What can I, and the Doctor," Patriel said motioning to the man seated in the corner of the room "Do for you?"
"I know you have Femyael," Ceren said and raised a hand to forestall any reply. "Don't ask how. But there's something that needs to happen. The Doctor knows. He knows what I am."
"And... what is he, Doctor?" Patriel said sounding a bit unsure if he wanted to know.
"He is the brother of the last Emperor. That man possesses the genetic markers to be a sibling to the last Emperor," The Doctor said as if it were just a normal thing.
Patriel looked at Ceren and then looked at the Doctor and then blinked a few times.
"Okay..." He said unsure of where this was going.
"Femyael is Cirenia's sister," Ceren suddenly said.
"Alright. That's enough. Lay this out completely. I want to know what's going on!" Patriel damned angrily.
The Doctor slowly took to his feet with the aide of his cane. "Every Emperor that has come and gone. Has had a sibling. There are always two. The same age. But different. There exist those within the Imperial House that watch to see which is the more capable." He explained casually, his voice echoing unnaturally throughout the room.
"Except...someone within the Imperial House is trying to use Cirenia as a puppet. I've always had my suspicions. Ever since her first augmentation went wrong..." Ceren remarked his eyes becoming distant a moment.
"How so?" The Doctor said with a hint of concern in his augmented voice.
"Well the process is quite painful as you full well know. Somehow she awoke during the procedure. I felt it traumatized her. But others in the House pushed against it," Ceren explained.
The Doctor slammed his palm against the wall. "She was but a child..."
Patriel clenched his fists as he listened to the two.
"So then what? What do we do? We can't just march into the Imperial Central Region and confront the Imperial House with theories." Patriel said angrily
"Femyael. She must replace her sister. The attack on the Academy. Arresting nobles. We might make a case for her removable. But we have to remove her first and ask questions later," Ceren said definitively.
Patriel sighed. "Fine. Then take her and go."
"You're coming too. You're the only one that can reach her. We know you made a connection with Cirenia. Even if it was small. We need you to come with us," Ceren said with a sense of urgency.
"Fine...but how? It's the Imperial Central Region. Even the Exploration Fleets can't just enter that space." Patriel said feeling a little overwhelmed.
"I know of a ship. A ship that could get us to the Imperial Capital." Ceren said stepping up to Patriel.
Who nodded, a few moments of silence passed. "Fine. I'll go with you." Patriel agreed.
Soon after Patriel sent a message to his father saying that he had to leave on urgent business. That if need be, he would renounce his title of Marquis. Even adding that Mica is strong and would lead the Sarcanus with the right guidance.
With that the Southern Exploration Fleet and The Bastard both departed Sarcanus space.
