I've been reading about this game from time to time. At one point I was tempted to buy it just as it came out of the gate. But I didn't simply because I was broke. Well the news about it wasn't so good. Lack of initial content and heavily instanced zones. And talk about how it isn't a good representation of star trek. Personally I was just "Shut up and gimme my damn ship." As I have always loved the idea of doing battle with ships. Whether it be in space, in the air, on the water or underneath it. But even so I didn't buy this game until just last night. Still haven't played. Damn download speed is too slow. Anyways, I better get to the point. They are having a sale on the game. $2.50 for the digital download of the standard version over Amazon. $5 for the deluxe which comes with a few added bonuses. For $2.50 it's worth a look around. 30 days of free play is better then a short trial. www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Online-Game-Download/dp/B0044DEPYG/ref=dsvrt_myd_asin_blockI don't know how long the sale will last. But I'll try to get back to you on how it plays.

Well personally Eve felt more stable for me when I tried that Trial well STO was well how you say this. I wished it was more stable for my current build which I can handle WoW and even Eve at max setting around 50-70fps >.>;; The Star Trek Trial felt too short and I am waiting for the game to go free to play. So ya give a good review when done.

Well the computer I bought to replace Ed's was not able to handle the graphics. It had a 6200 built in video card. So I switched to my computer. And it runs it fine. Course it's a 9200 built in video card. So don't expect it to handle STO if you've only ever run WoW.
The game starts out with two missions that introduce you to space combat and ground combat. Then you pretty much start doing missions. Ranging from patrolling sectors, exploring, and I think some diplomacy missions that I didn't touch >.>
The space combat isn't bad, kinda entertaining, but you can't go vertically straight up, which ruins the immersion of space combat.
Ground combat is clunky. Would have been better if they had made it a straight shooter. Instead it's third person with combat similar to WoW, but without any of the smooth gameplay.
Haven't touched PvP yet. And ships. Well, you start with one, then when you hit lieutenant commander, which is kinda grindy. You get your first actual choice. Either, Escort, Cruiser, or science vessel. And there's only one of each in that tier.
I was hoping to do a video of it. But hard drive space is becoming scarce on my comp. Movies, WoW, other games, and a lot of podcasts. ;p
I'll probably do a clip of the space combat. Just because that's really the most interesting part.

Well STO added in new player generated content now for player can make their own ships I read from Massively. My graphics card is not that weak its at entry level gaming GT 240 520MB DDR5 model which is in the top 10 tiers of current graphics cards. Yes still weak but Eve online looked PRETTIER then that and I played that at Max settings for the trial which was kinda of nice. But yes make a video I want to see even if you must use a portable hard drive!! Or just guy a bigger one and transfer everything over since memory is cheap now.
