So instead of making it about something interesting (like a Gaunt's Ghosts/ Crusade movie, or about the Inquisition or something), the 40k movie is apparently going to be about nonother than the Ultrafags
Hopefully -since it is Abnett doing the writing for it - it'll at least show them as they were presented in the 80-90's as "that supposedly glorious legion who have a deep dark secret and their own secret agenda they're hiding from the Imperium at large under the sham of being its greatest heroes", rather than "the glorious poster boys of humanity's salvation who have no stain on their reputation" the way the last Codex cast them.
A good example of the former is that the Ultramarine's current master had the "old guard" so-to-speak of his chapter (basically all those who would have been left of the ones who'd have been around during the Heresy or the years after) used as a forlorn hope when fighting the Tyrannid invasion of their own home system.
More examples: there's a reference to them having an artifact vaguely described to sound like its made of the same living metal that C'tan are made of (which would indicate a possible Necrontyr influence similar to that within the AdMech), while the "Gauntlets of Ultramar" that their chapter master uses are actually a Chaos weapon that was taken from the Word Bearers IIRC.
Not to mention the ORIGINAL 1st Edition profile for the Ultramarines listed them as a legion that was rebuilt post-heresy from one which turned traitor. Add in that the father of their Librarian was noneother than the Tyrant of Badab (i.e. the leader of the Chaos-aligned Red Corsairs - who actually has some Ultramarine traitors in his ranks if pictures of painted models in the CSM codices are to be believed) and it makes it seem like Ultramaines aren't quite the shining, unflawed knights they got "spray-tanned" as in the last codex.
Still... they'll probably be portrayed as total flawless bishie gloryboys, but they shouldn't in all honestly what with all the fluff over the history that's been to the contrary.
