So I guess I'm going to open the proverbial can of worms and be he first person to start a semi-serious discussion on this board.
Alright, here goes. Now before I start this, I'll go ahead and say that someone who isn't and never was an American citizen has about zero input on this discussion... though I think that about only excludes James from among the Usual Suspects since Ellie didn't jump boards. And like just about every other animu tentacle monster he seems totally apolitical.
Anyways, am I the only one who sees separation of government powers between the state and federal levels as something inately american in concept and that if we continue to whittle states' rights down til the state government is entirely subservient to the Federal government as it is in practically every other democratic (not to mention all non-democratic) nations then we're losing something uniquely American? A part of our national identity politically-speaking, I suppose.

In case you haven't been paying attention to current news, the majority of Europeans consider themselves whatever nationality (or sometimes even ethnicity, especially if they are or are descended from immigrants from certain regions) before they do European; I think its like Luxembourg or some other relatively minor state that has the only sizeable population who consider themselves Europeans before a particular nationality, ethnicity or whatnot. And the Euro has been an abysmal failure, as the situation in Greece shows. Basically the Europeans are either going to do something radical to fix themselves (and probably drastically ghey, though if they had sense less holidays and government-issue chocolate for those on welfare - all payed for by taxpayers - would help ) or else the EU as a political union is going to collapse and the continent is going to go back to being a bunch of separate countries. In that case I should hope Africa, South America and Pacific Asia will get the message and quit while their ahead instead of their lawmakers trying to force unions on their populations when said peoples are even moar volatile a combination of ethnic hatred. Either way, it'll probably give Russia some measure of its power in the region back since the East European countries will be left out in the cold again if the economic crisis in Greece spreads to the rest of the EU, and the former Soviet republics who aren't already members of NATO will have no allies once the EU collapses and we've got such a limp-dick administration at handling Russsian agression that a couple more invasions like the one in Georgia will probably happen soon.

Well Europeans also brought it on themselves too so if it collapses its their fault. And Russia will always be well Russia.

Russia is still the same old Russia... I mean I have nothing against the people there, just the government really. I mean with the Poland thing its up to how many foreign leaders that Putin's had axed that he didn't like now?
Also. Russia has slowly been rebuilding their economy (and their "friendships") by selling Cold War surplus and even a lot of new designs to pretty much anyone and everyone so long as they aren't NATO-aligned. x-x;;
They're also considering letting Iran into their economic/military alliance (which right now is just a bunch of ex-Soviet republics), which would make the US doing anything (even embargos) be considered an act of war by Russian logic I assume :/
Then again the point would be moot as I'm sure as soon as Iran gets in they'll get the nukes they want on overnight delivery. x-x

Also. The Europeans in general didn't bring it on themselves. Despite calling themselves democracies, the way their governments are set up the lawmakers were basically forcing union on the various populations of their respecive countries because a bunch of overeducated nitwits thought it a good idea.
Sound familiar anyone?

If 2/2B happens without 3/3B happening, then economists have already stated that the other countries you mentioned in 3 will have their economies wrecked by it apparently. x-x
Basically, if one of the smaller countries backs out of using the Euro or drops out of the EU for whatever reason it'll wreck the delicate economies of the others who were pushed into it by the larger nations like France and Germany.
Also, knowing ruling European leaders and how much they think they know what's better for their people than their own people do (hence why the Union occured in the first place)... probably #5 will occur. With or without rioting... iunno, some Europeans like to riot when their leaders are dicks (the Greece riots started over raising the social security age by two years IIRC) and others are passive roll-over-and-die types. Especially the Anglos.
