Kingdom of Hort
Hort is a small Kingdom. Nestled up against the Blackrock Mountains, it is surrounded by some of the densest forests in the known world. Fortunately this acts as a natural barrier to it's two neighboring nations, that could easily have swallowed it up otherwise. However because of how dangerous these woods are, a guild is often required to keep the wild from bleeding in.
Cristiphis Blackwell is a Sorcerer for the Towe Guild. Their assignment is The Valley. It stretches out along the length of Blackrock Mountains. It's ends meet the forest on the south and north of the Kingdom. What comprises The Valley are a series of villages. The population of the combined villages is sizable. But the spacing between the villages and the lack of many natural resources beyond farming, makes this not a desirable territory to oversee.
The northern village of Fenroh is crucial to the villages in the northern reaches of the Valley. It provides a great deal of the wood for them. It's for this reason that Cristiphis built his home on the edge of the northern darkwood. It's built upon a massive tree. More of a tree house.
The middle aged sorcerer sat upon a stool in his work room. Etching the vial for a potion that would contain wild growth. Which had taken eight days to process and required a large variety of herbs. Even requiring 8 gold pieces to purchase the rarest herbs. He was almost done when he heard a horn in the distance. Quickly he climbed up to the third level of the house. Where upon he opened two wide doors. In front of which sat a glider. It was a pricey purchase, but the distances that he needed to travel warranted it. A ballista like device was built into the floor and took a few grunts to crank it into position.
Climbing into the rigging of the glider, he kicked the release, sending the glider soaring into the sky. The glider by itself couldn't actually get him where he wanted to go. But he'd inscribed it's sails to catch a much bigger lift than wings of it's size have any right to catch. Combined with a little wind magic, he could pretty much fly anywhere.
His glider ate up the distance and the village soon came into sight. The landing required more careful manipulation of the wind. But he had plenty of practice and executed the landing easily. He didn't waste any time and quickly went toward the fields. They were on fire.
Reaching into his pouch, his fingers found the vial etched with the symbols for a water potion. Quickly he flung the vial into the center of the conflagration. Upon shattering it released a disproportionate amount of water that covered the area. It managed to drown out the flames.
Cristiphis searched the landscape for the cause. Off in the distance he spotted a flaming unicorn. Incredibly rare in these parts. It looked like it was just passing through. He was glad to not have to fight such a magical creature. But he would have to inform the Guild. It could be dangerous if left to it's own devices in the valley.
