"Can't you guys choose a better time to do this?! At least like after our experiment so we can drop off the civilians?!"
Executive Officer James Wong was having a fine time in life, being offered the position of Executive Officer of a brand new ship around his 30th birthday, at this rate he might even become the commander of his own fleet... until this happens. Looks like the security on board was not as tight as he hoped, a chunk of the members on board were civilian, and a lot of them aren't even their own people. Spies, weed, undercover, whatever you want to call them, but a lot of them managed to get on board, and is trying to take this ship so they could steal all the new technology. With little loyalty to the SNRI, he could care less if the ship gets stolen, but as the XO he'll still have his job to do. Commanding the members on the bridge to fight against the invaders that are trying to take control, James is trying to get the rest of the crew together, and at least avoid the worse case scenario.
"Captain this aren't good, we still have a lot of civilians on board, if they get taken hostage then we might have our hands tied. Worse yet if the Subspace machinery takes a hit, we might go off like a firework."
That's right, though the cause of it is not clear, several minutes ago the subspace system has activated, sending the entire ship to subspace. This means that if the hull takes any damage, the energy coating might be damaged, and result in the ship getting destroyed by the dimension. Even if they don't explode, if the subspace system stops functioning, they could get lost forever with no way of returning home.
"Sub-Lieutenant, where's the rest of the crew?"
"We have contact with the Chief of Security, just before the diving started he reported that he's with the doctor. But his team is facing enemy fire and couldn't bring the doctor to safety!"
"Tell him I don't care what he does, bring us back out to regular space! And keep the explosives to a minimum, we can't risk a breach in any parts of the armor! Secure the civilians on board and make sure they don't fall into the hands of the attackers! Helmsman! Keep the ship stable!"
He ducks a few shots and make his way over to another intercom, then duck into cover after activating it.
"Engineers, Engineers, do you read me? Are the reactors secure from the enemies? Status report!"
Although the actual crew have more members than the spies, the attackers have the first hand, and are more well trained in combat. It could be difficult to maintain their control over the ship, and could be overcame if they don't have firm control over the reactors and bridge. Though they managed to hold the bridge, they're outgunned and are starting to take injuries and casualties, and James could imagine that other areas are suffering the same fate. Not only that, he's not too sure that the Tenjo kid could get his job done, and can't help but wonder who the hell hired this crew. He's not a worshiper, but he hope to whatever god that is out there to keep the crew alive, and survive through this tough situation.

Christoph Sarcanus stood behind one of medbay tables. A young ensign was squirming as he stitched the man's arm. It was merely a graze from a ricochet. But the young man was acting like it had torn his arm off. A quick slap got the man's attention.
"If you move...I will stitch my initials in it." Christoph said, his voice ringing out from speakers on his space suit. Unlike the modern suits. He wore a modified space suit from the old Nasa days. It was modified with redundant filtration system. The reason for which is right between his lips. A cigarette.
He stood in the room over the man in a full on Nasa space suit, complete with the US flag on sleeve, all because he wanted to continue smoking. The helmet's visor was clouded with smoke as the unit's filtration system strained to clear it.
Fortunately for the man on his table. He was exceptionally skilled and his gloves crafted to precision for him.

Accasius Harmattan was a dignified man. He started at the bottom, working in the oxygen factories of the Jupiter Sphere before being conscripted into the army, eventually proving his talents in numerous head to head challenges against other Jovians for rank and position, eventually doing a brief stint as a mobile suit pilot before being commissioned as a naval officer on the ship his mobile suit team originally worked under. But then the fall of Dogatie happened, and the Jupiter Sphere suffered a massive political shakeup as new, and more humane powers came to head. As a people born and bred to challenge any and all adversity, Dogatie's followers did not take the change lightly even if it would be in their best interests to do so. Harmattan did not feel like having his career ended by a loyalist car bombing, so he instead sold his services to the SNRI to captain one of their new ships until the maelstrom around the gas giant died down. Details were sketchy until he had first got on board and received them.
Suffice to say, he wasn't very thrilled at the undignified position he was now in, standing behind a towering computer mainframe on his bridge with bullets whizzing by the cold steel machine his back was pressed for for cover. His face showed none of the concern that should be evident in such an event. Indeed, he seemed to never show much my way of emotion, not in facial expression nor in tone. Accasius had to be at least 40, but age came to wear on his features slowly. His hair was already a dull platinum blond that would not show grey, and his sharply chiseled face seemed to resist wrinkles as vehemently as smiles. Stoic, would be a fine word to describe the man.
"Thank you for the appraisal Number 2." The Captain said, voice plain, bereft of any hint or sarcasm or seriousness. But what his XO said was true, they were in a precarious situation. These infiltrators were absolute idiots to attack at a time like this, they risked more than just their lives and the state of their equipment if something went wrong.
The Captain twisted his upper torso around the edge of the computer and leveled his gun at a handful of attackers trying to make their way through the door into the bridge. A coughing sort of *Thwap* sounded as the cartridges within were ignited, hurling needles towards the spies. Bullets would run the risk of piercing the hull, so he took the liberty of bringing something back home from Jupiter for personal security on his tenure with the Research Institute. These sorts of things were more common on their colonies than the Zeonic and Federal ones. Will they ever learn?
Harmattan doubted it. The easy life provided by the Earth Sphere made men soft. This was why the SNRI hired him, even if they didn't outright say it.
"I want that status report as soon as you get it Mr. Wong. And someone get me our Lieutenant Commander on the line, if we lose the Mobile Suits we might as well surrender now." He called out while pulling back behind cover, a few loud *Pings* able to be heard unsettlingly close from rounds ricocheting off the database's armored casing. Mentally, he repeated his insults towards their attackers.
He tried his own intercom, but only received static. Hopefully someone down there would pick up with some good news.

"Shit their not stopping!!", Rico Burbon shouted.
On the other part Zephyr was shooting his small sub machine gun at the incoming mutineers which was not expected. He soon went back down to reload his clip and noticing others under fire too.
"Tell me about it... how the hell did they manage to get in anyways."
Looking around Zephyr soon adds, "Just got to make sure they don't blow a hole in the ship, if they do then we all die!"
Suddenly the voice of the captain was heard as Zephyr turned to Rico then nods, who then took his rifle and began cover fire at the door way. Zephyr quickly moved to the nearby intercom pushing himself hard in zero gravity. Once getting to the intercom he soon picked up the phone then replies, "This is Tenjo, the Chief went to protect the researchers, captain. So far a few security detail and Rico are holding out. We won't let them near the mobile suits over and out."
Suddenly a mutineer came before him which he soon fired at him before he could.
"So what is going on on the ship?", Rico yelled.
"Hell like I know!! Just keep shooting and lets hope the Lieutenant Commander is fine!", Zephyr soon added.
Elsewhere on the ship the Chief of Security, Lieutenant Commander Miriam Lint was leading a group of security detail down the corridors. They all wore vests, helmets, and have assault rifles on their hands. Her black hair was tied in a pony tail to not get in the way of fighting and wielded a large pistol. They were moving to both put down the Mutineers but to make sure the researchers are safe from being attacked again.
"Ma'am all clear here.", one security member soon replied.
"Damn... how the hell did they get on board?! As well any word on the engineering team?", Miriam soon asked.
"None Ma'am... hostiles all over possibility they might of been over run.", the security member then replied.
"Fuck... well regardless take down all hostiles for now. We can figure out how this happened afterward.", the Chief soon ordered.
Suddenly as everyone was moving a suddenly flash hit everyone which came out of nowhere.

"We're not picking up any responses from the Chief of Engineers, Sir!"
The operator, Akitsu Marumi, is a strange young woman. For one she tends to call everyone sir, and highly respectful to her superior, something you very rarely see among younger personnel. She's also quite uptight when she's on shift, but she gets her job done, so James didn't pay it much mind. After hearing the quick response, he briefly hold his head and try to think of something else, when it happened.
"Captain, we're not getting any response from the Engineering team, but the researchers are with the security team. They seem to be fine at the hangers, and are keeping the Mobile Suits away from enemy hands. I recommend that we-"
And he was cut off, by a blinding white light. The sudden change in brightness forces him to shut his eyes and give out a quick order to everyone, just in front before the ship starts rocking, and some of the crews starts yelling at the sudden light.
"All hands! Prepare for light and shock! Helms! Keep it steady!!"
. . .
The light ended as sudden as it had came, but it took a bit of time for everyone to adjust again. Looks like the sudden light had stopped the on going combat around the ship, with most of the commanders stopping their previous operations to plan and adjust, James was no different.
"Status report! Any damage to the ship?!"
"Systems all green!"
"We're exiting Subspace!"
The ship suddenly shakes, or rather the 'space' within the ship begins to shake. Many that had just recovered from the flash of light gets thrown to the ground, including James himself who could not keep a tight hold, not expecting the sudden movement he drops right to the hard metal floors of the ship. Dazed by the impact, he lays on the floor, with his mind trying to regain itself back to full efficiency. There's some blood on his face, looks like the impact opened a light wound, but it wasn't as major as it might have appeared.
However they're once again back to regular space, at least they won't have to worried about getting vaporized by any tiny scratch. That was in the mind of many of the crews as they recover and see the vacuum space, but one of them saw something as they look at Earth, something that could not be possible.
"T-that can't be right...?! Australia is... Sydney is..."
The member had a hard time realizing what he is looking at, and could just stand there with his hand pointing at the screen he's responsible for, which is showing an image of Earth. It is completely normal to see Earth, after all they have returned to regular space, and they're at a location where the Earth is not blocked by a Colony or the Moon. But this Earth has something different about it, it has something that haven't existed since the early days of One Year War...
"Damn that hit hard... what are you talking ab-... That's impossible!! Sub-Lieutenant Akitsu! I want screen 6 on the main screen, now!"
"Y-yes sir! Screen transferred!"
The image shown on the screen made James speechless, he tries to wipe his eyes a few times, wondering if the blood coming from his forehead is screwing around with his vision or if the hit made him see illusions. After confirming this is real, he turns to Captain Harmattan, and very calmly ask the question he had in mind.
"....Captain, have you seen something like that before in anything other than historic records or movies?"
...Australia, is unscathed. This knowledge alone is able to stun many of the crew that have even a bit of knowledge of the geography of Earth after the One Year War. Sydney, the location where a Colony made impact with, still exist on Earth. This fact alone tells everyone that they're no longer in a world that they are familiar with.

Anton Crucif was ignoring the chaos that was unfolding around him. Too busy yanking out components an old Heavygun. Pausing to look at a particular piece, then discarding it, deeming it unnecessary. Suddenly the ship lurched, the moment of which threatened to toss him away from his work, but he held fast. Both hands gripping the inside panel of the Heavygun's side torso. He'd serviced machines on warships in active combat before. Though the sudden light caused him to wave his hand before his eyes. Only took a moment or two to refocus.
Repositioning, he kicked off of the mobile suit, propelling to a nearby gantry. Making his way into the flight control room.
"What's going?" Anton asked calmly, scratching his long scruffy beard.
"That crazy subspace dingy did something, I think.." The enlisted man said at the console.
Anton wanted to spit, but not in zero gravity. He turned away and started back, muttering to himself. "Just give me an old mobile suit any day..."
Meanwhile. Cristoph was finishing tending to a man. When the sudden flash of light caused the man to panic and start flailing while screaming he that he was blind. Unfortunately the doctor's patience ran out and he struck the man upside the head.
"You're fine! Where do they find these runts!?" He said angrily, shoving the dazed man out of the medbay.

Some good news did finally come to the Captain's ears when he got a reply from the Hangar, albeit terse. Sounded like they were under attack too but holding out. Good. That meant 2/3 of the vital components of the ship were still under control.
> "Captain, we're not getting any response from the Engineering team...
Then he heard this and cursed, there was the final third that they needed. They'd just have to hold out hope that Engineering was still under their control and unable to reach the com, because if they had to dig the mutineers out of the engine bay...it'd be a fine mess, for sure.
An intensely bright light, worse than the sun itself almost, suddenly lit the deck and made him cover his eyes immediately. The captain slumped down and pushed against the computer, wedging himself into place as an unknown turbulence rocked the entire hull. The strange phenomena ended as abruptly as it began, and he quickly realized it must have been their sub-space unit firing a second time to drag them back into reality. A fine mess, indeed.
Quickly taking stock of the situation, Accasius heard no screams nor gunshots, just the pained moans of those already hurt or tossed around in their exit from the odd dimension. He took the time to pop out from his hiding spot and help a couple of his officers back to their stations, checking their conditions and wounds. Was it really all over?
The Captain had his back to James when he made his inquiry; he turned on a heel when addressed and immediately had his eyes bug when they fell upon that screen. He took a few steps closer, standing beside his XO as if thinking that it was merely a trick of the eyes at range. But it was not, the Oceanic continent was unwounded and pristine in a way he had never seen outside of pre-0079 records.
"No Mr. Wong, I have not. Well, you heard the lady, all systems are green. So either someone is playing a very bad joke, or what we're looking at is quite real." The captain said in response, but there was a hint of incredulousness in his voice. How couldn't there be? This was impossible. He turned to look at everyone else on the bridge with them, were they seeing it too?

When the light hit everything went chaotic for one brief second inside the hanger. Zephyr was pushed into a nearby crate and everything shook. The Gunfire suddenly stopped as everyone in the hanger were caught up within the force of the sub space shift. When it all settled Zephyr soon managed to get up and soon noticed Rico was on the ground which he rushed over kicking himself over.
"Rico!! Hey Rico you ok?", Zephyr soon shouted at him.
"Ughhh it feels like a mobile suit was ramming into me...", Rico managed to say which he soon stabilize looking around.
"Good grief... you just don't die huh...", Zephyr was saying until he noticed the mutineers all around possibly also winded.
Both of them quickly check up on the fellow security members which then quickly moved to pointing their guns at the mutineers.
"You guys better surrender now you lost.", Zephyr soon said with a smirk, which the mutineers all soon sighed and dropped their weapons.
"Rico keep an eye on them until the Chief gets back to know what to do with them. I am checking the flight control room.", Zephyr soon said which Rico nodded.
Going up he soon noticed Anton Crucif in there soon asking, "So what the hell just happened?"
Elsewhere on the hallway the Miriam Lint and her security team managed to recover as she turned to a nearby Researcher.
"What the hell was that?!", Miriam soon asked.
The Researcher pondered but for a moment then states, "It seems we exited out of Sub Space... still... it shouldn't of shook so violent to do so."
Miriam was at a lost for words then soon says, "Well that doesn't sound right... we need to get in contact with the bridge and find out what the hell is going on. Keep those theories going in your head please since I want to make sure we don't need to abandon ship."
The researchers nodded as they promptly follow Miriam to the nearest console which she soon activates, "This is Chief of Security, Lieutenant Commander Miriam Lint. Bridge do you read me, over?"

Although James was quite shocked at what is going on, the call from the Chief of Security reminded him of his job. He turns over to Marumi, and direct her to pass down his message.
"Ask her about their situation, if they've already dealt with the enemies then have them be on standby for now. Tell them we'll be right with them in a moment, and don't kill anyone that are not aggressive at the moment and stop any combat action until further orders."
"Yes sir! Lieutenant Commander this is the bridge, you are to be on standby until further notice. Commander Wong has request to ceasefire with the enemies, and avoid combat until further notice."
He gives out some more orders for the others of the bridge to work on, it seems that the invaders have paused their assault, so he ask some of the crews to take the time to barricade up and to communicate with the others on the ship. After he's done, he turns slightly towards Accasius, with a slight worry on his face.
"Captain, have a moment?"
He points at a position further away from the rest of the crew, and begins to whisper, no matter what the captain decide to do. In the case the captain have to stay here then he'll just have to try to cover his voice by facing away from the rest of the crew.
"I'm not completely sure on what's going on here, but the rest of the crew might be in panic if they find out what has happened. What should we do captain? Keep it under for now? Or announce it and see if we can get the spies to stop their attack?"
James' plans is to have at least have a ceasefire with the attackers. After all even if the spies take the ship, they would have no way of taking the ship back, assuming James' guess is correct. Some of the crews are injured, himself included, so he would want to at least get some medical help for the wounded and to reorganize the crew. But they just had a battle with them, it might not be easy to have both side accept the request.
"It's your call Captain, I myself sure like to get Sarcanus to check this out."
After all, a bunch of bleed trailing down half your face is a pretty convincing reason to seek help rather than otherwise.

The captain was quiet as he mulled over the information being tossed back and forth across the bridge, and by incoming status reports. He locked eyes with James at about the same moment, it seeming as if they had the same idea, and he nodded silently in agreement before moving over to a more secluded part of the area so they could speak in private.
He respectfully waited for the XO to finish his complete thought before saying anything of his own, watching him closely the entire time. Harmattan's iris were a shade of silver that appeared almost white, giving the man a sort of ethereal, if not alien, look. That wasn't too uncommon from Jovians, and the captain seemed to be a spitting image of the strange types produced by those odd colonies, who are so distant, that the sun is but another star.
"I want to keep this under wraps until we know exactly what happened. The crew will just become more confused and panicked if we release guesses and theories to them, and constantly have to backpedal and correct ourselves. They look to us for guidance and stability, showing them that we possess both in spades is more vital that ever in our...situation." The leading officer said, eyes flickering back to the view screen showing Earth, as if to detail what he meant. Even if it was clear as day.
Using the information was a sound idea; however, so he did not want to dismiss it out of hand, and instead further explained why he felt it wasn't prudent.
"Those men were willing to throw their lives away, and ours, to try and seize this ship. Any alliance we make with them will be temporary, and they clearly believed strongly enough in their agenda to risk everything for it. We'd be trading short term safety for long term risk, when they will inevitably try again. If anything, I suspect they'll become bolder when they see what unexpected effects our ship can produce."
He scratched at his chin briefly, in thought. "I recommend that we appeal to their sense of self preservation. Tell them that we've maintained control of the hangar and the bridge, and will now be sweeping the ship systematically. If they're willing to work with us and accept a ceasefire to come along quietly, we'll go easy on them. By rights, I'd rather have them off my ship entirely, but I fear we'd be well off conserving manpower and supplies. We jumped and they don't know to where, they must know their window to succeed has closed, let's push it while they have nowhere to run nor hide."
Finally, as an afterthought, his pale eyes moved to Mr. Wong's head wound. "I'm impressed with how you handled yourself, and I'm glad to have you at my side. But get yourself to the surgeon ASAP if you need it. I'll be calling together the researchers and staff heads for a meeting once the ship is secure, after that I'll break the news to the crew, and I want us all in top shape for that. Do you have any recommendations to that effect?"

"So what is happening ma'am?", one of the security soon asked.
"For now we wait... a ceasefire is being planned. Just in case they break it, I want you all on guard and hold this wallway.", Miriam soon ordered.

"I understand."
Thinking about what the Captain have said for a bit, James too notice that his original plan might be a bit wishful. Thinking about their choices, he decide to use another approach on the attackers. Turning back to the rest of the crew, he goes over beside Marumi and grabs the intercom.
"Marumi, direct the intercoms to the entire ship, and connect camera Bdg-3 to the public monitors."
"Sir, won't the enemies hear it too? And the attackers might charge in after seeing our situation..."
"Doesn't matter, do it. If it's just camera 3 then they'll only be able to see the pile of enemy corpses on the side."
-
"To all hands on board, this is the Executive Officer, Commander James Wong speaking. The bridge and other vital areas has been safely secured by our brave security team, and we can all feel safe that the ship is still in our own hands. It will only be a matter of time before we finish securing the halls and return to our original mission, until then, non-combat personnel are to stay at their current position until further notice. If you encounter any enemies, please avoid them and report to the security team immediately."
Next he moves the camera away from himself, and push it towards facing the pile of bodies on the side that has been gathered up, while avoiding image of the barricaded door.
"As for our enemies, you have little choices. As you can see from the monitors in the ship, your little team here has been taken down. We hereby demand that you drop your weapons and surrender, in that case we are willing to treat you as prisoners of war rather than spies. If you are worried about us keeping our promises, you are welcome to select one unarmed member to negotiate. You have 3 hours before we make our moves and finish you off. If there are any further combat actions between this time, we will automatically consider that as a refusal, and begin our assault immediately. Don't consider any further combat, remember to your family and friends, your own lives are more important than those measly wage that you receive from this operation."
He then direct Marumi to cut off the transmission, and have another operator pass down the orders for the researchers and department chiefs to head to the bridge, along with the medical team to get all the wounded some help. After he's finally done, he sits down on his seat and wait for the members to arrive.
As for the spies, they did not make any immediate response, and are still discussing among themselves. However they stop their attacks, and only be on guard even when the security team passes by, but they demand any members they approach to stay away from the few areas that they have taken.

"Roger we will be heading over and out.", Miriam soon said into the intercom.
"So?", one of the security soon asked.
"We head to the bridge after that we will figure out what the hell is going on.", Miriam replied which the rest nodded.
The group began to head down the cooridors as they headed toward the bridge their weapons drawn and ready not sure if any mutinners would attack. They would soon arrive towards the area of the bridge. When they arrived they soon noticed the various mutinners before then. Depending on what they do would it be a fire fight or not?
"So... you guys surrender or we going to go by this the hard way?", Miriam soon asked the group.
Soon one backed off and then the rest began to follow. They all soon dropped their weapons and accepted their defeat to take the bridge.
"See that wasn't hard. You just lucky these things didn't penetrated the haul or all of us would of died in sub space.", Miriam bluffed but enough to make the group a bit tense hearing that.
She soon knocked on the bridge door to come on.

The ship's head found his way back to his chair after speaking with James and, after brushing off some glass that had got thrown onto it, slumped down into it heavily with a sigh. Gloved fingers rubbed at the bridge of his nose, a physical manifestation of the stress all of this just heaped on him at once. How he didn't have a headache from it all was beyond him, but there was something to be said about looking gift horses in the mouth.
"Let's hope they see some sense." He said to both James and everyone else seated beside him after the announcement, and after that he waited for everyone to pile in.
-
The door to the bridge slid open at Miriam's knocking, and she found herself looking into the nerve center of the vessel. Arrayed around the room were the other important officer's on board, standing at ease, but tense. Most turned to face the new arrivals, the Captain amongst them.
"Ah, Lieutenant Commander, glad you could join us. I see you brought me some guests, they'll have to miss to the meeting, but don't worry, they'll be treated fairly as per the XO's words." Accasius called out. With a wave, he motioned for Lint's team to take the mutineers down to the brig or another holding area, and for her to enter sans the grunts; her own inferior officer was also invited, however. The door would close behind them if they moved in, and then the captain would continue.
The main view screen was lit and alive behind him, and it showed a display of Earth. What the important issue here was might not be readily apparent, until they looked at Australia.
"Gentlemen, Ladies, I want all of you to take a good look behind me and tell me what you see. If anyone had looked out the window on the way up here, you might already know what the big deal is. If not, I invite you to take a look at Oceania and tell me if anything looks out of place." The captain said with his usual stoic, emotionless voice. A hand was raised and waved towards the picture, and he directed the assembled eyes to Sydney. Several of the audience gasped when the revelation hit.
"I don't know what happened, but we clearly didn't leave subspace in the same place that we entered from. I've had my operators triple check our scanners, and they've found no faults. It seems that there was something of a bug in our piece of experimental technology. Suffice to say, I want to stress how delicate of a situation we're all in." Harmattan continued, pausing briefly.
"Researchers, I'd like to know your theories on what happened, and for you to make sure it won't happen again if at all possible. This subspace engine is our greatest edge, if we can't use it again without catastrophic side effects we're in even worse straits," his milky eyes scanned the assembled officers, "The rest of you, I want you to keep this under wraps from your men until we know for sure what's going on, and that's an order. We don't want to cause a panic, and we certainly don't want our spy friends to get any funny ideas before they've all given up. I'll announce the situation to the crew when we have it straightened out, and no sooner. I trust that I can count on you all to do this?"
"Beyond that, I want a full sweep of all systems and their associated hardware, an inventory of all supplies, weaponry, fuel, and spare parts still intact after the attack, and an updated roster of all men and women dead or alive. If we're on our own here, we'll need to know where we stand. Lieutenant Commander Lint, I'm trusting you to get me a headcount of the mutineers once they've all been apprehended or killed, make sure to confiscate anything of value from them for our own use. If you have anyone skilled with bombs, send them along on those sweeps, I don't trust the mutineers to have not left any "surprises". They snuck a bunch of weapons on board, so they probably had caches somewhere, and if that's the case, I want any and all of them found. Understood?"
Having said his piece, he waited for affirmations and any issues raised. They all had a stake in this now, so he wanted to hear anything that came to mind before dismissing the lieutenants and their people.

"Thank you doctor, the blood and dizziness was starting to get annoying."
Looking a bit pale from the loss of blood, James sits back and prepares for the meeting. Though he's got his eyes closed, he didn't pass out quite yet, but rather juggling the few options that they might have and what the others might choose to support.
One of the researchers volunteered to speak to the rest of the group after a discussion among themselves. He fix his glasses slightly, and clear his throat to try to get a clear voice, but it wasn't after a while that he finally manage to start talking under the pressure of the others here.
"Eh... Um... Ok, as we may all know, the Subspace System is still an experimental technology. It was not completely tested when SNRI ordered this trial ahead of schedule, not were we suppose to have activated at a location far from friendly territory. Our records shows that there was a strange recording when the system was activated by accident during the mutiny, but we cannot be sure of what exactly has happened without further data. The position of the stars however suggested that we have roughly traveled 65-68 years back in time, assuming the planet that is on the screen at the moment, is Earth."
Though his report was not exactly clear, nor was it really all that useful, it did stir up quite some talk among the members here. Being warped back to the ages of your grandparents was not exactly something you see everyday, and feels more like a few movie.
"The Subspace System is still in its regular condition, I cannot promise anything for long range traveling, but it should operate just fine for short range diving."
According to the data he provided on the screen, that short range is REALLY short. It'll be lucky if they could travel a few kilometers with it. Which pretty much rule it out from being used for regular travels, and left with the ability to avoid enemy fire and detection.
Generally there's only 2 ways to go, to find a way to return home, or to postpone that choice and try to get a footing first. After seeing the Captain has finished giving out his orders, and that the general discussion has behind to die down, and opens his eyes and slowly scan everyone for them to direct some attention to him.
"Marumi, keep a record of the conversation. A written one. Alright everyone, allow me to organize our choices here. First we have two main choices, one is to return home in some ways, the other is to remain here and try to survive for ourselves. The first one is the most straight forward, but unfortunately with the Subspace System still being in development, it might be a risk to try such warping again. Don't forget the Subspace System was not designed to have such ability to travel back in time, and who knows if it will send us back to where we want, and not to say another 40 years back?"
James himself is against the first choice, at least until the scientists got their job done and figure out a safe way to operate it. It'll be better if they could get some time to figure out how the system works before they risk their lives on it, after all having an unknown percentage of getting killed is not something he wants to risk without further information.
"The second choice we'll have more things to decide on. We can either stay on our own, or find a faction join. In the case we stay on our own, we'll need to find some way of resupplying. If Australia is still intact, that means the One Year War has not started yet, which means EFF garrisons would still be guarding colonies. In such cases we would not be able to approach Colonies without making contact with them, and that's a risk in itself. The other choice to attack merchant ships or supply ships, this would be fairly easy with our more advance technology. But if we do not... finish off any survivors, we'll risk being discovered and pursued by the EFF. If we join a faction, then no doubt we'll make a great impact in history... I've sure many of us knows about all those theories on time traveling, but those are theories, none of them has been tested yet. In other words if we change too much of history, no one can ensure that we won't sudden... vaporize by history."
He then points towards Jaburo, Side 3, and the Moon. These three locations are the home base of three major factions they might choose to join, EFF, Zeon, and Anaheim.
"If we choose to join a faction, these three could be possible choices, being the ones with the most power and potential during this time. But if we join the military forces, no doubt we'll get sent to the front lines after studying our technology, and there's always the risk of us getting imprisoned or killed just to obtain our ship. Anaheim has similar risks, but lacking an actual military force we'll have a bit more leverage over them."
Then he points at a few soon to be neutral area, such as Side 6, moon cities, and some areas on Earth.
"Lastly are the neutral areas, they'll be more safe than the other choices. However as we have no money of this time, we'll need to find some ways of obtaining some, such as selling our designs, fight as mercenaries, or resort to crime which I hope we wouldn't have to. If there are any other choices we have that I have missed, feel free to suggest it."
After finishing his report, he sits back down and let the others think about the decisions a bit, before voicing his own.
"I personally are more in favor of helping the EFF. Compared to Zeon, they have more country power, so fighting against them would be a very, very difficult task in the end. We'll also be able to avoid the Zabis, I sure don't want to meet a madman like Girhen. If not then staying neutral is better than joining the Zeons."
From many history books that James have read, Girhen was treated worse than Hitler did, being the man that ordered the slaughter of billions of people. He himself knows better than to believe everything that was written in these books, but there are always a degree of truth in this, and it is better to not risk to see if the records are real or not.
