Clan Ancestral Name: Huitzilo Yolcatl
Common Name: Huitzilo Clan
Active History: 184 years
Symbol: Hummingbird
History: The Huitzilo Yolcatl have persisted longer then their recorded history. However they claim to belong to the land and draw their culture from it. They take their name from the warrior god Huitzilopochtli. They praise him above all others, for it is in battle, that they feel fulfilled. They are a warrior culture and fight any that would take what is rightfully theirs. This also led them to be a hard people to engage diplomatically. Leading to them being more isolated then other lands. Even so they fought off repeated invasions from their neighbors. Finding their martial prowess unmatched.
However isolated from the world. They did not see what was coming. The consolidation of the lands around them. Until they were surrounded by a much larger threat. Even so, the topography of their land gave them an inherent advantage, and no one knew the land as they did. It is said that no enemy scout every returned from their lands. A then young Southern Republic had it's eyes set on seizing the final piece before the Empire could gobble it up. However the prospect of fighting in heavy jungle, surrounded by a maze of rock outcrops did not bode well for their losses in an attack. So they sought out a different tact.
On the eve of the Huitzilo Clan's big festival of the sun. They were betrayed from within. The position of their hunter killer groups were given to the Republic. As well as a detailed map of the land. Caught off guard and mid celebration they were in momentary disarray. Most importantly a small group of traitors and Southern troops managed to infiltrate into the Temple of Huitzilopochtli. The Clan leader and his family resided there and their deaths would ensure the ultimate downfall of the clan. The Clan leader fell in battle holding the entrance to the temple. His wife died moments later in the hands of her son as she attempted to shield him from gunfire. Tumbling over the side of the temple they fell into the lake the temple was centered on.
Though they searched the lake for hours. They found only found the mother's body. The son had managed to escape despite the injuries he'd received. His mother informed him to take the "Headtaker". A mech that had been passed down her line. She never intended for her son to bear it's blood curse. But she knew he was his father's son and he would need strength. However alone with only one mech he could only dispatch enemies here and there. Soon he would need to repair and maintain his mech. So he left his ancestral lands and wandered north. There he found the Central Empire of Baladorax. Emperor Waeslar XIVth decided to take in the young man. Partly to send a stern message to the Southern Republic, but mostly so that he could use him as a pretext for a war with the Southern Republic.
The young man learned what he could about mechs so that he could maintain, repair, and modify his own Headtaker. Mostly he moves from place to place within the Empire. Looking for work as mercenary. Attempting to either acquire wealth or unique weapons. It is unclear if he intends to take back his homeland. Only that he is always looking for a place to spill blood.
