The Ehekatl departed the asteroid leaving behind the Exploration Fleet and the Bastard. Each of which had it's own orders.
Aboard it is quite sparce. The ship's construction had been halted. As the
prototype was deemed unnecassary due to the current stealth ships still being effective. Many did not like the idea of an unarmed stealth ship.
Much of the simple cosmetic features of the interior were missing. Some corridors were blocked simply because they weren't quite complete. Others were completely bare of any kind of automated railings or lighting.
A skeleton crew of volunteers manned the ship. Many systems being run by simple AI. It is not even a question of if the ship will be destroyed. It will most assuredly meet it's end in orbit of Capital Prime.
The trip was quite long. They couldn't simply jump into the Central Region. No stealth ship could mask it's jump signature. The Empire maintains complete surveillance of the entire Central Region. So a Jump would simply draw too much attention.
Instead the ship ventured in on conventional propulsion. To a point at full acceleration. However they soon had to go into silent running. Which even with stealth armor, Energy Dampener, and 1/3 engine output. It was too likely a hidden watch outpost with full spectrum sensors would pick them up.
Only the Vice Admiral's intimate knowledge of the security within the Central Region made it possible to avoid detection. He also had a very small group of agents helping him.
Agents within the Imperial Navy is near impossible to achieve. Routine screenings, undercover intelligence operatives, absolutely no privacy while on duty. Then there's the routine crew transfers that included officers. Designed to ensure that loyalty to one officer was not practical.
However Vice Admiral Ceren Kerensi is not just some officer. He was the right hand to the Emperor. Those that support him do so out of love for the Empire. They know he does what is best for the Empire.
These agents help by providing up to date information of the patrols and current security protocols.
The ship navigates a veritable maze through Central space. Until they finally nearing Central System Prime. However there is no sneaking past. The surveillance and security here is so impossibly tight. The only choice is to get as close as possible and then make a mad dash for the Capital's orbit. Followed by executing a drop in record time.
