Patriel left the school. He left a note informing the Princess of his absence from the Student Council. Appointing Femyeal as acting Disciplinary Committee Head as she is the only other person on the committee. He took the light Carrier "Rockwind" that had been in orbit since the first day of his arrival.
The ship left through the neutral jump point Rose of the system. The ship arrived some time later in Sassanid space. The ship was escorted by at least four cruisers of the Sassanid.
Captain Ragnos watched the screens patiently. They were walking into the lion's den. Not long ago Marquis Patriel Sarcanus killed House Sassanid's eldest son in duel of honor. When Patriel told him what he wanted to do. The Captain argued against it. But in the end all Patriel had to say was
"I am well aware of the danger and how my father would feel about this. But it something I have to do."
The Captain nodded and said "Yes, my Marquis."
The planet reached orbit and were instructed to send a single shuttle down and make landfall at the Palace's landing port. Despite the command of his Marquis, Captain Ragnos insisted on coming with him.
They landed and made their way into the throne room of the Sassanid Duke. There the Duke sat. Aged, with a weary expression, he was slouching as he looked at them.
"You are the man that killed my son.." Came the slow and deep voice of the duke. Who shifted his wait to his arm that was resting on the chair.
"I killed your son in single combat. He died with his sword in his hand. With honor in his eyes. He would not yield," Patriel told the Duke confidently and proudly. Not out of pride for himself, but the pride he felt for the fallen heir.
"And you come here.." The Duke's deep resounding voice echoed in the nearly empty throne room.
Patriel took a step, the guards reached for their sword, he paused. He raised his arms so they could see he was unarmed and the duke waved off the guards. Slowly he approached and stopped just short of the duke. Kneeling down, he lowered his head.
"I made a mistake. We-no I made a mistake. Deceived I killed your son without honor. I ask that you take my head in recompense," Patriel repled with a strong voice.
The Duke was startled, his head rising from his hand, he looked around. A moment later he grabbed his sword and shambled toward Patriel.
"No father! He was my brother. I will be the one to kill him," Came the voice of young Kavadh Sassanid, the new heir to the House. Stepping up to Patriel.
"Rise Marquis of Sarcanus. You will die by my hand. But today is not that day. Until I am worthy of defeating you in a duel of Honor." Kavadh said with strong tone.
Patriel rose up and met the man's eyes. "That is good. I have need of a man who can watch my back until then." He said with a smile.
Kavadh had a perplexed look o his face. Patriel went on to explain how he needed him for the discipline committee. As extension of friendship House Sarcanus officially sponsored Kavadh's stay at the Academia. Not only that but they agreed to work with House Sassanid to bring a case against House Cirene for deceiving them.
