toysdream.blogspot.com/search/label/mu%20gundamThis reminded me of Pitman trying to develop a "Fantasy Gundam setting" once, but nobody really taking to it. And after seeing this I think it... actually could work. A mix of Gundam designs (via non-SD versions of the Knight and Musha interpretations) with fantasy mecha elements (Dunbine, Galient, Escaflowne, Iron Kingdoms, Dragonmech, etc) would be a pretty awesome setting, honestly. I guess you'd need to play up the Super Robot elements from First Gundam though. Also you could take some of the G Gundam designs (Viking, Zebra, Minaret, Pharaoh, Kowloon, etc) and rework them into cooler versions that are meant for real combat. Except the Windmill Gundam. There's no fixing the Windmill Gundam. Edit: And I think I just proved myself wrong; if you had it turn into a castle-like mobile fortress mode (ala Psyco Gundam) that beam/cannon spammed and had the equivalent of an i-field or beam shield barrier but was slow moving or even immobile, then yes you could fix it. Though... it would no longer be the Windmill Gundam at that point. :/

Well after watching the first two eps of Tenchi Muyo War on Geminar. I started trying to think up something along those lines. Though in my case I tried to make a system for designing the mechs like that. After the following episodes were nothing more then a harem show. I stopped working on it D:

Well, I think if you did something like the Iron Kingdoms setting with half-dieselpunk/half-magitech mecha designs it'd be pretty cool. Just scaled up to larger size and made more humanoid since the ones in Iron Kingdom look too stumpy like medieval platemail versions of Space Marine Dreadnoughts. I guess like Escaflowne, but more emphasis on the warfare and mecha and less on displaced teenagers, cat people, transgendered bishies and whatever. Honestly some non-humanoid designs would be cool though too... like battle mech/walking steam tank things. Or like a giant double polyballistae mounted on tank treads or giant wheels (basically a medieval-fantasy guntank). Maybe even giant mechanical war elephants, basilisks, centaurs, dragons, etc. Since animal (Zoids/Bacue/Mammoth Gundam/Fuunsaki) type mecha make more sense in a fantasy setting after all. Especially as units filling roles akin to mobile armors or support units in traditional Gundam series.
