So the map I made represents each star system. As in that's a solar system with a sun and planets and what not.
So I was thinking that we could design our own star systems. But if we leave that up to each person without some kind of checks and bounds. We'll end up with some crazy three page story from Pitman about a bajillion planets with crazy three page stories of their own.
So I was thinking we could do it based off points. To keep it equal between us.
Now I have two ideas.
A planetary class system
Earth Class Planet - 9 High vegitation and oceans
Desert Class Planet 6 No oceans. Little Vegations. Largely desert
Ice Class Planet 5 Far from the sun. Covered in ice. 60% frozen water. Dead Planet
Asteroid Belt 8 Made up of debris from former planetery bodies.
Gas giant 8 Made of gases
Hot Class Planet 5 Too close to the sun to support life or water. Requires sheltered living areas.
Or one where you design the planet based on size and environmental disposition.
Like so
Planet Size Small 6 Medium 9 Large 13
Environmental Disposition, based on 20% intervals. Plant 3 Surface Water 2 Ice 2 Mountains 2 Desert 0
Relatively simple either way. You just choose what you like. If a system is a major, minor, or home system then it gets a different point cap.
I'm personally leaning more toward the latter one. Because it gives more freedom.
