Eastern Frontier Region
Expedition Fleet East was originally Expedition Force One. The first fleet of it's kind within the Empire. Designed for extreme duration voyages, the ships are quite large, allowing for greater accommodations and reusable resources. Because of it being the first, Frontier East subsequently being the first established Frontier, is the more developed Frontier. Many Houses look ambitiously to the frontiers as new means of expansion. However Frontier East is host to some of the most independent Colonies on all of the Frontiers.
This fact is further compounded by the presence of Tetranni on it's fringes. Though the Tetranni are based closer to Frontier Southeast, Raiding Hosts still plague the Eastern Frontier to this day, despite the treaty. The Tetranni claim they are pirates that exist outside of their laws. This gives them nearly Carte Blanche to raid the colonies of the East Front.
As such many independent defense guilds have been established. The most notable being the Damocletian Knights. Who not only protect traveling ships, but have their own series of trade outposts, observation satellites. They are however staunchly anti-Imperial. Often diametrically opposed to the Emperor himself. Because of the wealth they generation from trading posts and protection, they have a fleet comparable to, if not greater than, a Lesser House. It is also said their Knights are worthy of fighting nobles.
At the current date, they are in a pitched series of skirmishes, the frequency of which is becoming most alarming. The Damocletian speak ill of the Emperor for allowing such actions to go unpunished. However, they also accuse Imperial authorities of allowing the raiding to go on further so that they can move in to seize control of the region from the independent minded colonies.
Thrown into the mix is House Sarcanus. Whose expertise in protecting supply lines from fast raiders is well known. Some of the more minor colonies have begun using them as security forces. However the Sarcanus are met with great hostility from the Damocletian. More then a few warning shots have been fired over the course of their introduction into the East Front. Some say the Sarcanus are only there at the request of the Emperor, to help stabilize the region, without provoking the ire of the Damocletian. Though clearly it has only added fuel to the fire.

With House Sarcanus initiating full mobilization and recall of it's space forces. Those that had been committed here began preparation to pull out completely. Many of their minor contracts being given to affiliated security ships that Sarcanus has sponsored. While the bigger ones they opted to return any advanced pay and provide them with a few defense satellites while they find new private security forces.
However, the raiding situation changed dramatically, in that they nearly ceased entirely a few days after the Massacre at Supremus Academia. This has made the small security forces and the Damocletian Knights very nervous.

Nicola Virvich, Commodore, in charge of security operations on the Eastern Frontier. He had diligently driven the forces here to ensure the safety of all of their clients. Many industrialists have felt safer coming to this frontier with their presence. Some even paying for their troops to provide direct bodyguard services. However the call came in only two days ago to pull out completely. They would have been gone already, but he made the command decision to make sure their removal from the theater was done right, ensuring that all of their assets were ready and their commitments to their clients were directed to other security forces.
All of the Sarcanus ships were gathering around his flagship. "Osiris" a light carrier. Given the reason for their leaving it was a prudent idea to leave in combat formation with all of their auxiliaries.
One of the many screens on the bridge displayed three Damocletian ships that had begun shadowing them as they began to pull out. Evidently not trusting the Sarcanus to leave. Despite the Sarcanus graciously transferring a few of their contracts to them at a discount.
"Sir..." A communications officer said with air of uncertainty in her young voice. "I've got multiple jump points opening in space."
The Commodore looked to her, waiting for her to elaborate.
"They're not at the beacons. They're well away from commercial traffic," She said in a sincerely concerned look.
He couldn't help but envy her, she was so young, so naive. But she had good instincts and in this case she was right.
"Send to all ships. Minimal combat stations," Commodore Virvich said with a calm authoritative tone.

For a long time there has been peace between The Empire and the Tetranni Dominion though hardly known except a few though the war lost they have been gathering strength once more. As time passed many didn't forget the lost war, as they soon saw the flaws of underestimating the human race in the process. On this specific day word reached to the Tetranni Dominion's own home world that the human's began moving military forces away from the frontiers and the Emperor who lead them was dead. Though knowing attacking now only would unite the humans against the Tetranni Dominion instead began plans to raids across the frontier and specifically a place they would not be expected.
That is what the current leader of the Tetranni believed who sat in the Nar Qun Class Nagarliu. The current Ni Lenka (Fleet Squadron Commander) saw this a perfect time to strike back against the humans. Already they have experimented on humans once more in secret and abducting them in small colonies. Truly humans were frail and weak is a fact but had one thing they still couldn't understand is what made them truly tick. Thus the experiments continued and they knew best thing these humans must experience... fear and despair for in their brains such is a possibility.
Now was the time to strike, with their Emperor dead and the current intelligence reports of tensions of an possible civil war breaking. Ni Menka (The Military Leader) gave the permission to reopen hostilities in low numbers to raid the colonies not to conquer but to destroy.
"Ni Lenka shou kli!! (Squadron Commander we are arriving to our destination!)", the Ni Senli (First officer) soon reported.
"Ni Senli Vobokma Qun Ni Sciamar Ni 'Fajliu'! (First Officer have all forces ready for combat and the weapons ready to kill the Dirt Eaters/humans!)", the Ni Lenka commanded.
Suddenly the jump was completed for all too see for the first time in sixteen years a full combat fleet squadron arrived. With a single Var Qun Class Heavy Battleship in formation with 7 Var Nar Class Heavy Cruisers.
"Ni Lenka Ni Fajliu Ceen... Fa Ni Sarcanus Ceen!! (Squaderon Commander we detect Human Warships... and detect Sarcanus Warships!)", the Ni Senli stood said.
"Ni Sarcanus Ceen!! Ni Qun Sciamar Sarcanus Ceen!! Ni Qunliu Fajliu Fliu Adjiu!! Lun Fr Mi Scia!! (Sarcanus Warships!! Have all warships aim our weapons on the Sarcanus Warships!! The Filth Dirt Eater Sarcanus will be destroyed and glory to our people!! Science is Absolute!)"
As soon as they arrived into long range they began without provocation fired and concentrated fire on Sarcarnus ships in front of their fleet formations with their Heavy Laser Arrays.

The Sarcanus belief in self reliance was important. That's why standing orders for ships on combat status is to engage in minimal evasive maneuvers. Meaning they can't maneuver to far from their assigned station, but enough that should they be attacked, they have a chance of evading.
When the Tetranni opened fire all of the ships were evading. Thanks only to the distance did many of them manage to evade some of the long range laser fire. However one Frigate was struck incurring a large gauge in it's side armor that also knocked out three fighter scale railgun. A second Frigate's sensor array received damage and had to rely on visual indicators to coordinate, thankfully Sarcanus naval practice had coded visual transmitters become standard, even so it's reactions would be hindered.
A patrol destroyer and the Light Carrier were struck. Though in the case of the light carrier only a section of hanger was decompressed as well as a regular compartment. Several crew were vented because of this, unfortunately they would have to drift, until the battle is over. The destroyer lost function in one of it's laser arrays. The repair would take two turns.
"Full maneuver in formation. I want us going left away from them keep us distant. Launch all fighters," The Commodore ordered in a brisk tone.
The ships quickly reached maximum acceleration, though they modified the formation, forming a flat disk facing the Tetranni. With the patrol destroyers located in the center of the formation and the frigates around them. The Light Carrier positioned on the other side of the formation, slightly shielding them from the enemy ships. All of the ships were engaging in whatever evasive maneuvers they could manage. The frigates in particular were quite agile thanks to two suites of maneuvering thrusters.
"All destroyers open fire on the lead ship. Frigates concentrate fire on the next ship. Fighters make your wide approach to their side and use medium missiles." The Commodore instructed over his line.
The Shepard class patrol destroyers began lancing out with heavy railgun fire. Followed up by combined fire for their 7 individual large lasers. All while making a wide arc around the enemy ships at maximum acceleration.
The frigates put out a screen of large unguided rockets. Which could cause more damage then a guided missiles thanks to the extra explosives in place of guidance and maneuver systems. Though their laser arrays were fewer, the number of ships aided in making up for that, providing greater volume.
The 22 Defang fighters, with their excellent acceleration, were clear of the allied ship formation. Firing on the broadside of the enemy ships, giving them bigger targets, while maintaining a far enough distance to not risk any AA fire. They were nearing entering the rear arcs of the enemy ships.

As the human ships began their bombardment the Destroyers were concentrating on the Var Qun Class unlike the other ships this one had much heavier armor and 6 full emitters to increase its defense. The incoming attack soon meet the shields (Particle Screen Emitters) which all emitter power were put in the front to lower the incoming fire drastically. Still the AA Pulse Lasers on all ships began not only firing but used electronic countermeasures towards the incoming missile fire, making all guided missiles all unguided in the process.
Still the amount of attack on the Var Qun still managed to take a beating as the particle screen only managed to stop half of the incoming fire. The rest managed to break through hitting the hard armor of the Var Qun class only minor damage was done. The Var Nar Class that was targeted wasn't as lucky as the sheer amount of fire even with the AA Pulse turrets accross the fleet only managed to destroy a portion of the incoming fire. Its armor was hit hard with heavy damage, with multiple hull breaches. It was still managed to fight firing back as well the rest of the fleet firing towards the enemy ships with their heavy laser arrays.
The fleet continued moving forward trying to get into range with their more deadly heavy plasma launchers. (3 Turn til in range)

"Maintain concentrated fire on damage ships," The Commodore commanded calmly as he watched the damage reports. The carrier rocked slightly as a laser managed to find it's way through the barrier of ships and strike the carrier's side armor. Gauging away sections of armor as it ran across. Fortunately only minor compromises in compartments occurred.
One of the frigates did not fair so well as it was struck by two intersecting lines of laser fire. The point they met causing greater internal damage the usual. While the occurrence was pure happenstance. It managed to hit major power conduit, causing a loss of power to major systems, only rerouting emergency power to sensors and engines kept them moving within the formation. No effort was made to repair the badly damage conduit, instead power is being routed to a redundant conduit. (2 turn to return power)
Three other frigates took various degrees of armor and internal damage, but there systems were unaffected. A forth frigate lost all of it's laser batteries in the return fire.
Of the destroyers, one experienced decompression in it's rear hanger, while a second lost two lasers to enemy fire.
All ships continued to return fire on the ships they had previously been attacking. Making for a hail of laser and missile fire.
The fighters however had completed their wide arc behind the enemy ships. Their superior acceleration allowing them to achieve this feet in fairly short amount of time. Twenty-two Defang fighters overcame the enemy ships. Flying in four V formations. Each formation targeting the rear engine assembly of a Tetranni's undamaged Var Nar class ship. Each fighter using their large unguided frame mounted rockets. Adding their two medium missiles into the mix to add additional damage.

The damaged Var Nar Class ship was soon blown into pieces as the concentrated fire was too much for the ship to handle. The Var Qun Class though due to not only larger and more shielding armor only had moderate damage on its armor. With the attack of the Sarcarnus fighters the lone Var Nar Class ships engines were completely disabled from the mass fighter attack but weapon systems and particle screen emitters were still online. The damaged Var Nar Class fired its AA Pulse Laser Turrets in a barrage to hit any incoming fighters, it as well fired its heavy lasers towards the enemy fleet well it prepared to make an emergancy jump away.
The rest of the fleet continued its push forward at fleet formation fleet towards the enemy fleet now two Var Nars noticing a frigate not firing anymore and concentrated fire to sink her. They also continued using electronic countermeasures to disabled guided missiles and fired them down with their Pulse Laser AA Turrets. The rest continued to fire toward the enemy fleet hoping to get into range with their plasma based weapons. (2 Turns)

Though the fighters did their best to avoid the return fire from the Pulse Laser AA turrets. Four fighters were destroyed in the aftermath of the attack run. Two other craft were damaged as they made a break away from the enemy ships. As they retreated though, they used their medium missiles to tie up more of the AA fire. The fighters managed to reach the Sarcanus formation thanks to their high acceleration.
The singled out frigate had been maneuvering to avoid enemy fire. But as it suddenly became concentrated fire, the ship jinked desperately out formation, trying to put as much random evasion in their movements. However for every beam they evaded another struck, sometimes glancing hits, but ultimately the volume of fire struck her too many times. The ship subsequently exploded due to a reactor breech.
"Sir..Seti Sigma has exploded. No survivors.." The communications officer reported with a distant voice.
The Commodore didn't even acknowledge, instead reading the damage report from the fighters, they had done their job. Now the decision fell as to whether they should continue as they are.
"Alter course, straight ahead, we can segregate the damaged enemy ships from their allies," The Commodore ordered, wishing the Sarcanus navy had fancy officers caps like the Imperials did. Just so he could adjust it in a confident manner.
Two more frigates received damage to their hull and experienced compartment decompression. A destroyer lost a laser battery to intersecting fire. It caused an overload in the power system and halved the rate of fire on the other batteries. It soon normalized though.
Unexpectedly three Damocletian vessels closed into long range firing distance relative to the Tetranni ships. A Sword Class Heavy Cruiser and two Dagger Class Light Cruisers. They began pouring on the fire. The Heavy Cruiser with it's six maser batteries and two large plasma capsule railguns. The two lighter ship using six medium plasma capsule railguns. The beauty of this weapons is that it can negate particle screens. Which can slow or disperse most attacks. However these weapons do not rely on speed or concentrated particles. They need only collide with the enemy ship and release the super heated plasma content across the hull to eat away at it.
"Concentrate all of our fire on the already damaged Var Qun," The Commodore ordered, seemingly unphased by the intervention of the Damocletian. Every ship opened fire on the damaged ship with every weapon available in that moment.
1 x Darius Class Light Carrier 8 turns of fighter scale ammo -8 x Defang Attack Fighter -1 turns of medium missile ammo
4 x Shepard Class Patrol Destroyer -2 Turns of Heavy railgun ammo -4 Turns of Fighter Scale ammo -10 x Defang Attack Fighter -1 turns of medium missile ammo

As the battle raged on the Tetranni at first were thinking it would be possible to actively win but as it progress such victory became more and more unlikely. The combined attacks destroy the Var Qun and with it the entire fleet lost formation due to being based on the Var Qun. As another Var Nar was destroyed by the incoming fire three Var Nar Class ships took heavy damage from the onslaught. Soon a retreat was signaled as the remaining ships broke off from engaging the enemy and began to forma a jump point well firing back at the enemy with their heavy lasers arrays.

Commodore Virvich grabbed the horn as he issued orders to his fleet. "General pursuit. But keep outside their weapons range, I don't want them turning around." he ordered casually. Then turned to his Coms officer and signaled for her to issue general broadcast.
"To Tetranni Dominion ships. We are willing to accept your surrender and meet with your leadership at a neutral location to negotiate your release and seek a peaceful resolution. ANY further attempts to assail the Empire's frontier worlds will be met with greater resistance," He said in a confident, but neutral tone, neither of which betrayed the fact the Sarcanus were going to pull out.
Finally he turned to one of the bridge officers. "Get the auxiliaries over here. I want as many repairs as we can manage in the next few hours. I also want our munitions restocked," He ordered before looking to a different officer. "Coordinate as many free shuttles to scour for escape pods and stray personal in space. To honor of our the Sarcanus."
The bridge officers all saluted the seldom used line.

As the Var Nars only two managed to jump away in escape to report back to the Dominion command the remaining three ships couldn't jump. So with no choice the remaining ships surrendered, but knowing full well the Tetranni Dominion will deny their existence.

The Sarcanus took custody of two of the Var Nars ships and allowed the Damocletian to take possession of the third.
The Sarcanus auxiliaries were forced to provide engine components to repair the two Var Nar ships. Once they were fit to traverse jump space they were crewed with enough to personal to get them to their destination. All of the Sarcanus ships formed up and left with the two ships. Leaving the frontier to fend for itself. Though Commodore Virvich couldn't help hoping to return to it in the future.
