Humble Beginnings
Darius was only fifteen when his father was murdered in his own Guildhall. He never forgot how they came after the funeral, threatening his mother, or how they put his older brother in the hospital. On that day, something snapped inside him.
The loud thud of each step rang off the metal grate staircase. Whining audibly as it strained against his full weight. Just a few moments before he'd rigged the electrical to cut out. As soon as he appeared before the door way, the lights cut out all over the Guild factory, he entered and walked past the regular works who did not notice him. They were too busy to care. After all he looked like just another worker. Clad in his thick flame retardant leather jacket. Iron clad worker boots and a welder's faceplate.
He strode up to the door with the two jack booted thugs standing watch.
"I think you are in the wrong place welder, get on with yourself," The thug with a wave his thick hand.
Darius raised the plasma torch with a smooth motion and simply depressed the trigger. It ate through the man's chest and killed him instantly. Drawing the other man's attention, he quickly raised the nail-gun in his other hand, he slammed the nail into the man's throat twice. Shoving past into the room he was greeted by a few shots from an assault rifle. Falling over onto his back from the sheer force of the shots.
"Is he dead!?" Shouted the Union boss who was sitting behind the desk.
"I'll check," Said the man with the gun. Cautiously he headed toward the fallen figure gun raised at the ready. In an instant Darius raised and aimed his nail-gun and fired. But it seemed to miss the target as the other man was still standing. Grinning, the thug fired, the rifle exploded in his hands. Particularly the back part of the rifle struck him in the face.
Darius rose up as quickly as the weight of the super carbon plate on his chest would allow. The other man was already down on the ground. From his memories he remembered this man had worked for his father and now he was here. Nail-gun aimed to the other man's face, Darius nail after nail, until the canister he had fastened to his belt was empty.
The Union boss meanwhile fumbled with unlocking his drawer, finally managing to get the combination right, he hurriedly pulled the pistol out and made to aim it. A heavy grade spanner smashed the man's wrist in an instant. A scream rang out and the Union Boss writhed in anguish.
"From now on, corrupt bastards like you, will have to answer for your crimes." Darius Sarcanus said as he raised the heavy spanner up slowly. The sheer anticipation of the next strike must have filled the Union Boss with terror.
