Place sounds a little dead lately, but oh well.
So, mostly for fun I started re-programming that Galactic Gods Unit Creation program I had started way back whenever. That incarnation of GG never came about, but I always like a bit of a challenge and with a bit more of programming knowledge under my belt (and a better language to create it in), I've pretty much finished making it.
By "pretty much" I mean ~80%, if I don't include the ability to actually save a unit and a few other tidbits I was thinking about throwing in. But I'm surprised so far how quickly I've been able to make this version from scratch just by the simplicity of the language I'm using now (Visual Basic) versus what I had been struggling with painfully before (C++). Which probably means nothing to most people.
My absolute goal would be to find a way to form this program into something that could be easily modified by anyone who wants to use it. That way someone could take it and use it any RPG. But that's probably a long ways off.
What I have left to do: - Add more weapons/devices - Add in most weapon/device prices - List purchased weapons in "results" along with name, armor type, etc. - Adjust math for balance issues (if necessary)
If I manage to get through all this I may be inspired enough to actually make the RPG to go along with it.
I can throw out a few screenshots if anyone cares.

How it looks now, default with nothing in it, minus the honorary ship name of "SS Fancypants". And how it progresses as you change a few settings, such as ship class, armor type, a few weapons, etc. I didn't bother to show the "Result" since it doesn't entirely work yet. Also I added in a warning and a few error messages to catch if you're doing anything you shouldn't or may regret later. And that's about it. I was thinking of adding some stuff to make it look better graphically (maybe) and perhaps descriptions of the weapons/devices you are browsing over.

How I have it set up it should be easy to change/add/remove weapons and things to however I want them. Much, much easier than the system I had going before.

Nice. Looks good. Ed did something similar, but with a spreadsheet, we were working on a new version of the MS design system. But getting it to do what we want it to do, is a real pain in the ass, we ended up losing interest.

I like doing something like this because it gives me a bit of training plus it'd be easy to use with a GUI. Sometimes spreadsheets and things can get to be a mess of information.

New video games, school, now finals... Been hard to work on side projects like this. Hopefully it doesn't get lost completely in the mess that is my work life.
