Today, and for the last week give or take, an otherwise unimportant star system on the Western fringe of the Empire was playing host to a new player on the galactic stage. Or, perhaps it would be better to say...a returning one.
Mirchial was the name of the Iltruskar occupying the rank of "Admiral" in the fleet stationed in high orbit over this system's singular planet of note. It was a dead world, he noted, little more than rock and dusty sands floating lifeless in the void of space, blasted by radiation from the bright orange sun whose gravity well had trapped it here eons ago. This man, if you could call him that, had brought his fleet here in search of new discoveries to exploit in the name of their empire. Unfortunately, this place was of little value strategically and as a potential colony, only worth being used as a resource extraction point before continuing on their journey.
(Orders, Xulran?) The Admiral's XO inquired from his left, speaking in the Iltruskari Language. To a human it'd sound like every word was said with your lungs filled with water in the process. Which they'd have to be, being their vocal structure was designed with precisely that in mind. The fleet commander didn't answer him right away, continuing to gaze upon the vast emptiness of space.
The bridge of an Iltruskar ship was not very conventional by human standards, they were laid out in a stair-step terraced half oval that took up a fair chunk of the room. On the bottom step were the maneuvering officers, whom controlled speed and evasion in battle. Above them were the sensory and electronic warfare stations. The third step from the bottom held the officers for weaponry and shields. Finally at the top sat the commanding officer, his XO, and the command, control, and coordination personnel arrayed to their left and right. From here, it gave the ship's commanders easy oversight on what his inferiors were doing at any given time to guide them as necessary. Mirchial quipped internally that this was no different than any given part of their society: clearly arranged into levels, each separate but working to better the whole. Only now, after about 5 minutes, did he turn to his right hand man aboard this vessel.
(We will wait here for another three days to replenish our supplies. Order our sensor officers to continue scanning the planet for pockets of materials we can exploit with our equipment. I want our resource bays full before we continue our voyage eastward.) The younger Kelp gave a sharp affirmation before turning away from Mirchial to relay these orders down the chain of command. The admiral got in touch with the other ships in his fleet and demanded a status report. Every last one reported conditions to be green, as he had expected.
Not a single interesting encounter since we left Hierarchy space...I do not know if that makes me fortunate, or unlucky.
The rumor was that in the ages since their initial skirmishes with humanity, the nation they forged for themselves had expanded westward before squabbling internally and the strain of expansion finally forced them to establish and hold frontiers. Mirchial debated the truthfulness of that statement, these stars were all but lifeless, as most of space happened to be without outside intervention. They had been traveling for some time now before stopping here with nothing worthy of note beyond a handful of decent candidates for his people to colonize. Which was a grand thing, to be sure. Even so a measure of caution was required, while they did not know to what boundaries humanity now extended, it was a certainty they were here somewhere. Part of his job was to find out, if it came to that; though the objective there was considered secondary.
The alien put his fleet on a medium level of alert just to be on the safe side, though in truth, he doubted anything beyond pirates and other exiles would trouble or even find them here. So far brigands had proved irksome but not too troubling for the explorers. Knowing that they were not alone in the galaxy, combined with skirmishes before with humans, had left the Iltruskar wary when it came to pushing forth the boundaries of the known universe. This fleet was armed quite powerfully, able to hold its own in even the most foreign of stars for extended periods. Mirchial's ship, the one from which he commanded the motley flotilla, was one of the Charybdis class, which it was named after. A great beast from human lore, he had heard, inspired the name.
Amusing how much the humans fear what lives below their waves, when water is the key to almost all life. How can they fear what birthed their species?
In any case the Kelp fleet was arrayed in loose formation over the planet, with drones and troops periodically going back and forth from the airless surface to mine choice elements for fabrication later on. At the front-center stood the admiral's flagship, whose powerful sensors kept a close vigil on the surrounding space to be certain all was well...

As the RSS Darwin made its way exploring space, as time progressed Captain Kathrine Rarlaria sat on her sit drinking out of one of the containers with some coffee. As the Darwin have yet to encounter any alien species many planets have been mapped along discovered minerals for future colonized worlds. Truly humans could adapt to any world as long they have some terraform technology or even used closed in domes. As the Darwin Class was preparing for its next destination the Darwin Junior already a week ago mapped out new regions to check out. One of them had a planet that would be become a mining colony in the future.
To make sure it is fact to use the Proto Aurora Class Support AI to make sure. Kathrine was a veteran of the Tetranni Conflict sixteen years ago and fought along the 9th Fleet during the war. Though now the age of 38 and unmarried she only sees captaining the RSS Darwin ever since its creation. Most Captain's would ignore this ship and prefer something closer to home but for her with no family to think of she simply took this job due to the pay House Rabona gave her. Still being an Aurlian born she remembers Duchess Maria was still able to walk and lead as a child, but so much time has passed and being away for over a decade makes you forget how "home" was. Troubling still is the current edict the Empress made to arrest all nobles in the imperial worlds, being outdated in info that is all she knows.
"Captain we are prepared to jump once again.", her First Officer soon said from his console.
Darwin though large had such a small crew of 55 due to everything being automated now. Though large it was more for exploring then anything yes, it did have a few weapons but not many. More for self defense and the only truly dangerous one is that of the fixed Heavy Particle Cannon on the middle of the ship coming out to the front.
"Good enough, attention all crew once again we are going to make a jump to a point our little Darwin Junior mapped out for us. You know the drill and lets hope we don't jump into a sun or planet.", Captain Kathrine Rarlaria joked.
"She always has to do that?", one scientist soon said in his seat.
"That woman has always been this way since the war...", another man soon said who knew her since.
"Ah true I always forget you known her a long time Ginju.", the same scientist soon said.
"Ya... she went to war and I went into my biology labs... even if we both went to the Aurlian Star Academy together.", Dr. Ginju soon replied.
The Darwin was made up of mostly people of the Rabona Group but a few from Aurlia as well wanting not be apart of its Duchy Alliance military and wanted an adventure. Soon the RSS Darwin jumped from its former place into the same star system as the Iltruskar Fleet was at. As the ship jumped into the system the bridge crew all double check if everything came out ok. As soon that was done the Radar and other visual feed went alive with Captain Kathrine soon asking for a report.
"Everything is fine ma'am... lets see and oh shi-!", the radar officer soon said until multiple heat sources and things popped on their radar that shouldn't be there.
"Unknown ships have been detected Captain!!", the officer then shouted.
"What? Put the ship in level 2 stations!!", Captain Kathrine soon ordered.
As the crew all heard the alarm, many people were completely surprised years out here and this sound hardly sounded.
"First we need to determine if their any known race's ships. Keep our distance and don't try anything funny!! As well send a message to Expedition Command we made contact with an unknown race!", Captain Kathrine ordered.

For the better part of roughly eight hours Xulran Mirchial, their rank for fleet commander, watched over their fleet's mining operations on the planet's surface. One would typically find this boring, but the Iltruskar were notoriously patient even at the most rudimentary of tasks. Even so, not even the plants could go without periods to rest and recuperate, sometime before midnight he had turned the bridge over to his executive officer and made his way wearily from the bridge to his quarters. Not needing to walk, the admiral merely filled a bladder in his body with air and rose gently from his seat; fully intending to swim out of the door.
Unfortunately the weary plant would get no rest, not now, as the sensors of just about every ship in the fleet lit up at the unexpected FTL jump.
(Contact! Unknown class of vessel!) The sensor officer a few steps below cried out. Mirchail lowered himself back down to his station and resumed command immediately.
(Understood, patch me through to the fleet.) He ordered to the communications man beside him, whom nodded once the communique was opened.
(This is Xelran Mirchial to all ships. We have detected at least one unidentified vessel. Consider yourselves on high alert. Abort all surface operations and recall the troops immediately, then proceed into formation at best possible speed.) The ranking Kelp ordered, voice authoritative and without a moment's stutter. He was not bothered in the least, thinking it little more than rogues preying on their own people. That thought was dispelled when the main screen at the bridge's front lit up with a visual of the vessel. It was big, way too big to be something cobbled together by stragglers. the fact it was entirely alone also made him suspicious of what was going on here. (But do not fire without my order.) Quickly was tagged onto the end.
From the perspective of the humans, these ships would look nothing like any they had ever seen. They were long and cylindrically like a submarine, looking like they'd be just as good of a fit in water as in space. There was not a single sharp edge anywhere on their hulls, seemingly designed to be hydrodynamic.
Shuttles moved hurriedly back and forth from the surface with troops and materials being brought back to their motherships with all the speed they could manage; looking like swarms of hornets almost. Once everyone was back aboard the aliens would follow the prior orders and form into a battle line while on the vessels themselves sailors rushed to their designated locations, preparing themselves in case of trouble. Despite that they made no hostile moves towards the new arrivals, keeping their distance and weapons unpowered.
During this the sensors aboard the Darwin would light up from the Charybdis actively scanning them to try and get a better idea of what they were dealing with and who it belonged to.

As Kathrine observed from her chair as soon the unknown ships went into looking like defensive fleet formations. At first look the ships looked something humans never seen before. Though she seen new race before that of the Tetranni she wasn't sure these were hostiles or friendly. Regardless she noted ships were having smaller transports returning to to their main ships.
"Captain their scanning our ship!", one of the officers reported.
"Of course they too have to see if we are hostile or not. Communications officer have the support ai begin sending out a message that we are not hostile.", Kathrine ordered.
Soon Darwin's communications systems went out with following message. 'This is RSS Darwin Exploration Star Cruiser of the Rabona Group, and member in the 52nd Imperial Exploration Expedition Fleet. We come in peace and only wish for communication with you."
The message was sent in all human languages, rialeen lanuage, and tetranni language.

As the alien vessels fell into formation it also became readily apparent that even the largest of them were capable of reaching admirable speeds. Not a single ship one could describe as being lumbering anywhere in the battle group arrayed in high orbit. The moment the scanning data had returned it was forwarded to the Xulran's console, sparing not a second in reading it over carefully. The small array of weaponry for such a large vessel had Mirchial thudding his roots against the floor contemplatively. Since no move was taken that could be considered hostile from the Darwin, none was reciprocated. The attempts to communicate failed initially, the Iltruskar used none of the same frequencies humanity or previously encountered species worked with. However, the good news was the Charybdis's communications officer was adept at his job, and the widely dispersed broadcast was caught and relayed to the flagship's commander. With a nod he played the message, closing his eyes and mulling over what the contents meant for him. For the third time today, it would seem my luck has been tried...An explorer vessel, now it all makes sense. We must tread carefully...(Xulran?) The executive officer asked, a hint of anxiety creeping into his voice. (Humans. Imperials they say...it appears we have found them at last. Switch to the first frequency used and open a line of communication.) Mirchial ordered and pulled a metal device from below his computer console. It looked something like a gas mask, fitting over his beak and hooking around back. From below hung three small cables that were hooked into implanted ports four inches below the mouth. This was a translator, without which, it would be impossible to communicate with the meat creatures before them. "We understand you, RSS Darwin of the Rabona Group. This is Xulran Mirchial of the Iltruskari Eastern Exploratory Force." The voice coming across the comm was machinated, not like a robot's, but obviously synthesized. (( Like this, to give you an idea, at 1:42.)) "I send greetings on behalf of the Iltruskar Hierarchy. We mean no aggression if none is leveled towards us." He concluded, waiting quietly to see how the humans would respond. Will they remember us? Most it seems have forgotten...that would be most fortunate for our plans. While humanity may have forgot about the Kelp they had not. Their distrust, once garnered, ran very deep. It had been a very long time since they had ran into the apes first hand in any appreciable force, so long even most of them had thought themselves destined to never cross paths again. The presiding opinion of the Hierarchs was that this was a pipe dream at best, planets suiting their needs were too rare for so many species to exist in utter peace. Better they find out their potential foe's capabilities now, while they were fractured, than when the humans came to find them.

As the moments passed Kathrine was a bit nervous, last two first contacts in human history has lead to bloody conflicts. At a time the Empire brink of civil war first contact with an third alien race may lead into another war that is not wanted. As a reply was sent the proto aurora class super computer went to work. Using all possible ways to translate within five minutes managed to decipher parts if not most of the language. Still due to them help of the new race information popped in.
They were called Iltruskar Hierarchy and represented them. Captain Kathrine sighed in relief. With her now calm she knew the Imperials will want an official meeting at some pointbut for now it is Rabona's one moment of tltriumph.
With that a message was then sent out to the expedition fleet first contact was a success and peaceful. Then another is sent to the Iltruskar fleet.
"On Behalf of The Empire we greet such tidings and promotion of peace between our people. As such we will wish if it is possible of ambassadors between the Empire and Iltruskar Hierarchy at an both agreed upon designated point."
Normally the protocol was for the imperials to send its own ambassadors thus after this most likely House Rabona and Rabona Group will not be apart of such meeting.

The plants were likewise relieved that the people they had run across were not hostile. Outwardly. Even so it was enough of a reassurance to make most of them relax, believing that they would be safe for the moment at least. It was an exciting moment for all of them, especially the crew of the Charybdis, whom all waited with heavy anticipation to how this would all play out.
"A meeting between diplomats is an acceptable arrangement in the future. For now we must know more before making any such agreement and, in doing so, bring ranking civilian personnel into a potentially harmful situation...I am sure you understand our stance." The Kelp admiral responded slowly, thoughtful of how he chose his words.
With a cutting hand motion the communique was temporarily silenced so that Mirchial could order his comms officer to send a brief message back home. Encrypted, of course. (Humans found. Imperials. Coordinates 1000, -812. Unclaimed system. Diplomatic envoy requested by their party. Inquiring further now...)
"Prior to that more information on your people is a requirement. What is this Rabona group to which you are a part?" The machinated voice of the alien captain soon resumed. "Why is your ship traveling alone in unclaimed space? Our scans indicate your weapon loadout to be ill suited to the task of prolonged self defense against multiple aggressors."

Captain Kathrine heard the message then sends a reply
"We understand as such for it is still first contact between our people. As for your questions.... Rabona Group is simply a Conglomerate controlled by House Rabona. In the Empire we have multiple rulers the Empire overall ruler is that of the Imperial House who are the Emperors and Empress' who united the human race 323 years ago during a period called the Crusades. The various Houses who either loyal to the Emperor or those who ruled planets before their conquest currently controls the various non Imperial Worlds. Currently House Rabona is a small normal House with hardly any warships. We research in chemical, nano machines, terraforming planets, and exploring space.
Our ship is in fact one of an kind Exploration Star Cruiser created by the Duchy of Aurlia co designed by the late Edwin Avenor of House Avenor leading family of the Duchy of Aurlia and its Duchy Alliance. In fact this ship would be considered under gunned and under manned due to this being only for peaceful exploration. Aurlia fields many more in their Duchy Star Fleet. As well peaceful exploration because last two times in first contact ended up into the Rialeen War and Tetranni Conflict."

The bridge crew of the alien flagship listened carefully to the answer their questions from before had garned, their leader mulling it off over carefully. Mirchial had learned several of the human languages two years prior in preparation for his appointment to head of an exploration fleet. The term 'empire' was one common across all of them more or less, and in each one it implied a powerful and singular head of state who dictated all policies military and civilian. Yet, the way Kathrine described their government made it sound the opposite. It seemed painfully disunified.
"So I see. How many of these houses does your 'empire' allow to exist? And how autonomous are each of your states?" The synthesized voice of Mirchial would eventually pipe back up. From her response he assumed each one was allowed their own economic and military power.
Perhaps we could use this to our advantage.
The mention that this particular group were traders caught his attention more than anything else, even more so to hear what it was that they specialized in.
"I am interested to hear your Group deals in industry and research. I would like to make a counter-request that an envoy from your respective faction later meet with us independent of your Imperial diplomatic corp. I am invested with the authority to assure you that there is high potential of Iltruskari interests in several of your fields of study...supposing that the interest in trade is mutual." The fleet commander continued on. While meeting with the diplomats from the Imperial office in proper was on the agenda Mirchial considered it would benefit the hierarchy as a whole to exploit the fractured nature of humanity's state and form independent ties with these houses wherever possible. Of course, the motive behind that wasn't purely malicious, the mention of terraforming was of extreme value in their society for obvious reason. "I assume that this will not be a problem from what you tell me of your government's arrangement."
"Requesting further information of these alien species of which you made note. They are an unknown to us and you imply they are outwardly hostile." The existence of even more aliens was probably the last thing anyone on this fleet had expected to hear about, sentient life seemed to be rare. Apparently that was a fluke and they just grew up in a relatively empty sector of space. There would definitely be a lot to report once this meeting was concluded.

Kathrine soon heard more as she soon picked up her head in independent meeting with the traders of the Iltruskar Hierarchy. True Rabona would gladly open trade with anyone if the Empire allowed it. Especially now with the tensions rising between the Empire and the various Noble Houses House Rabona would need a more secure trade agreements if civil war breaks out. She soon composed herself in his great news and why exploring space was worth the investment.
"Currently there is over hundreds of Noble Houses, some Houses are vassals of others. The Mightiest of them of course are House Avenor of the Duchy of Aurlia, leader of the Duchy Alliance; House Gransela of The Duchy of Gransela, Leader of the Grand Alliance; and House Sarcanus they control no alliance of various noble Houses but the most militarized of the three. Avenor are known are creating grand Star Cruisers like the size in this in an entire fleet worth and many various kinds and leaders of ship creation. House Gransela is considered one of the richest Houses in the entire Empire only beaten by the Empire itself. It has a vast military in sheer size and rival of House Avenor in the Southeastern Region. House Sarcanus is neither rich nor known for creating grand ships but their military training is considered one of the best, they field various ships in various contracts in protection for various Houses.
These Houses are in fact almost fully autonomous, they simply pay taxes to the Empire, give troops when war is called, can request aide from the Empire itself, and as well call the Emperor the head of the entire Empire. We are as well str- errr,Though currently we have matters I cannot discuss, due to it would be against regulation."
Kathrine almost said currently the current civil unrest with the rise of the new Empress, and arrest of all nobles on Imperial Worlds.
"As for the counter-request under normal circumstances we can set up a meeting between the Rabona Group and the Iltruskar Hierarchy. I would gladly like to due to we are always open to trade, but I cannot guarantee it can happen with the current climate the Empire is experiencing can be seen, acting out against the Empire's well being at this current time. I will request from the Empire that is assure but if they grant it, it will be only up to them."
Now she got to the other races, though Kathrine was fine with Rialeens due to they were not the ones who started it was humans. They currently quite peaceful and she enjoys their different take on life then humans. Tetranni on the other hand.... the bloody memories of the horrors of the Tetranni Conflict still haunted her as that though a short war was extreme and bloody.
"I can say the Rialeen Empire currently is not even near here as it borders the North Eastern Frontier of the Empire. We are in the western frontiers of the Empire. They are not openly hostile, known for quick star ships and well quite peaceful. We was us humans who started that war unintentionally. As for the Tetranni Dominion, I can say they are openly hostile and known for using large amounts of the same type of standard ships. During the... the Tetranni... Tetranni Conflict 16 years ago... they... I am sorry but when I was younger I fought in that bloody and horrific conflict. Many people lost their lives in that war including Marquis Edwin Avenor who broke the battle lines to allow the rest of the fleet in. All I can tell you personally, do not trust a Tetranni for they will openly experiment on anything due to them, discovering everything is like a religion and have no value of any life at all."
Kathrine stopped for a moment then continues, then suddenly someone soon open an communication.
"Amazing!! A new civilization Kathrine!! What is their culture like? Do they reproduce? What was their evolution like?! How much have they explored space?!!", Dr. Ginju soon said.
"Eh...?!! Doctor Ginju what the hell are you doing on my bridge!! And more importantly we are in an important first contact meeting!!", Kathrine soon said as everyone could hear this.
"But this is good news!! Its not everyday you make first contact!! As well this could be the first recorded contact that didn't have guns being fired on each other!! A truly peaceful exploration just like the Rabona Group wanted!!", Dr. Ginju soon stated.
"Err sorry about that Xulran Mirchial.. my colleague was very... excited about this first contact meeting."

It's very likely a human would have spat out his drink at the mention of their being over a hundred houses in the empire. The Kelp had no such function and betrayed his shock by gasping, sucking in a stomach full of water and gurgling in the process. Suffice to say, the idea of the Empire that Mirchial had in mind was apparently very underwhelming to what it was in actually.
Not as planned.
Despite the shake up he listened respectfully to everything that was being said. Occasionally he would send missives to his battle group to keep the respective captains under his command informed and thus calm. They, too, had experiences with first contacts that went south and did not want repeated. The clack-clack-clack of keyboards could faintly be heard as everything said by either side was both recorded and typed down in written format for posterity, making sure they had backups to mark the occasion and for intelligence purposes. The human captain was rather forthcoming with information, and Mirchial did not even need to order his XO to have everything archived immediately.
"Your methods sound extremely unorthodox by our standards, yet one cannot fault what works." What the admiral wasn't saying was 'I don't know how all the internal politicing and agendas that must breed don't rip you all apart like a ship in a whirlpool'. While a military man primarily, he was taught how to be tactful and hold his tongue. "As for the request we shall wait for word from your Group on if it shall be confirmed or denied. When we meet with your superiors arrangements on steady contact can be discussed and dispersed to necessary parties that you may relay the answer."
While Kathrine went on to describe the past conflicts with other species of xeno the sensor officer on the Charybdis's bridge went to work trying to form a rough estimate of where the empire's holdings must expand to. She was throwing them a great many geographical terms that did much to confuse and little to help beyond the vaguest of senses, being the majority of Kelp holdings were no doubt out of synch with her directions.
"It is unfortunate that other races in the galaxy are so quick to seek hostilities. These Tetranni sound troubling and I would like to formally request coordinates to which their border expand that we may give them wide berth, if Imperial protocol allows it." After making that inquiry the topic of aliens was allowed to rest. Mirchial noted the emotion in the explorer's voice and estimated that further attempts to garner information would prove increasing futile. Better to halt and wait for a better opportunity.
"I would li-" Was about how far he got in trying to change the topic before the interruption from the doctor forced him to end prematurely and fall into puzzled silence during the following exchange.
"I will inform the Darwin's crew and all speaking parties that your intra-vessel exchange is not private. With that having been said ...we welcome your associate to the discussion. The enthusiasm of discovery is not lost on us and we would be happy to share information in turn, where permitted, in good faith for what you have given to us." Is how the alien finally concluded his end of the conversation.

Captain Cathrine sighed and knew her old friend from the Aurlian Star Academy will now get his way and does so allows him to begin his discussion.
"Doctor Ginju you can now take the podium... just don't start an international crisis.", Kathrine commented in her captain seat as Ginju floated to the nearest console.
"Do not worry I will not ask too much.", Ginju soon replied.
"Alright Xulran Mirchial, you say you are the Iltruskar Hierarchy correct? I take that Iltrustkar is the name of your race and Hiearchy means your a form of government which have a caste system? As well biologically are you a form an species that live in the ocean? We seen many ocean worlds and even our ancient home planet from old history that we can remember was 70% ocean and 30% land.", Dr. Ginju asked, it wasn't classified information but basic information so he can begin his own theories on the Iltrustkar psychology. It truly fascinated him that a race based from the ocean could eventually enter galactic matters.

"Your perceptions are startlingly astute, Doctor. We work by castes, correct, every level focusing on one facet of society and performing its job to support the whole. Iltruskar, in your tongue, means Those Born of the Root, with Root being our homeworld." The admiral was much quicker this time in replying since none of these questions pertained to anything of strategic importance.
"You may be interested to know if you did not draw the conclusion, we are from the kingdom of Plantae. From what your Captain has told me, I can only assume that this makes us a rarity in yet another form. Most sentient life it would appear comes from both an air breathing environment and from animal life." Mirchail stated, and then went on to postulate the following. "I must admit I cannot see why this trend exists the way it does. Animal life seems poorly suited to the rigors of sentience with their uniform lack of cellular walls and numerous vulnerable organs leaving them weak in the face of environmental danger. How such beings could evolve to master the wilds is a topic of much interest in our scientific community."
None of that was said in a way that he meant taken to be demeaning. It really was as outlandish to them to see animals walking and talking, as it likely was for the doctor to see a plant doing it.

With what was said Dr. Ginju's eyes lighted up at this discovery. So much to learn and study he would defiantly wish to talk with their scientists in any way possible the possibilities are endless!!
"Amazing... that it very astonishing in all kinds of records will need to be rewritten after learning this!! It is true we humans and other life was weak with organs but what I learned we were forced to adapt and survive. Our greatest asset is that of our mind, though we may not look it we are mostly water. Our potential is not of physically powerful but to create something to make up for our weaknesses and short comings.
Indeed our scientific community would be greatly interested as well! Though Nobles and the Empire may do all the politics and wars. We of who believe in science believe that to understand the universe and all that lives in it is itself is much more important. Though I can understand why you may yourself have a hard time to understand us we too will as well. Such is understanding is the ultimate goal between our two species."

"Our own species is believed to have evolved to our modern incarnation out of dire necessity, adapt to survive as it is said. On our world there were predators to which we were theorized to have been prey, until we had grown enough to reverse the change. It is likely had we not, we would not exist at all." Mirchial offered in return. Supposing this was true, it would make them both similar to humanity's origins yet quite different. Mankind evolved over time slowly and steadily, whereas it would sound as if the Iltruskar were forced down the same path through bitter war. The effects that would have on racial psyche alone would be phenomenal. It would very likely create a deeply ingrained us vs them ideology....and if the doctor looked close, he would notice it was evident here, too.
Mirchial looked at the doctor carefully, with all three of his bright eyes peering over his form. It did not seem he was convinced, the man looked rather weak by compare to his own people whom were built to be sturdy down to the cell level. The Xulran stood from his station and strode to the front of the bridge to make himself fully visible at about 5 and a half feet of height. While he carried himself graceful, it would no doubt seem odd how the plant walked with 3 legs - something no creatures on earth had.
