Back to the original question: According to the Unicorn Novel its "over 600 meters"
Oddly though, its also said to be a redesigned Birmingham (even said to be the second, unfinished ship of that class that was redesigned after the first was lost).
So possibly the Birmingham was originally meant by the mechanical designers of 0083 to be a Dogos Giar w/o the MS catapults essentially back when 0083 aired.
The sizes of ships vary so much in the old Zeta series (in one scene the Argama is roughly half as small as the Gwaden, while in another scene the Dogos Giar is only about a third the size of the Gwaden), and there are contradicting and even ridiculous size stats given in various sources (especially for the Neo-Zeon vessels which are all listed as being between 400 and 450 meters according to the stats given in Gundam Officials) that they could easily have just figured "it has to be smaller than the Gwadan, and that ship is listed here as only 400-something meters, so the Birmingham must be ~390 meters"
Anyways, if the the way that the Gwazine had its size retconned from only 290m (original published stats when MSG first came out) up to 440m (0083 and IGLOO stats), I'd say the Birmingham can probably also be considered ~600+ meters if the whole Dogos Giar = Birmingham w/ MS capacity claim holds water.
Take it for what you will:

Considering its ~1/3rd longer than the Dogosse Giar and twice as thick, its mind-boggling that Axis (as cash-strapped as they should have been) were able to make 3-5 Gwadan-type ships (the Gwadan and two others show up in Zeta Gundam, and two more in side stories, the Gwaley and the Gwalan, that might or might not be different ships altogether.)
I'm looking for it, but someone on mechatalk (Mark Simmons maybe?) translated that and got the actual size and MS capacity
Though I will say that, considering the normal EFF penchant for 4 MS per catapult is the ideal setup (even if rarely acchieved), and according to Sentinel up to 8 or 9 can be crammed into the hangar space of a Sally Kai in an emergency, you're probably looking at 48-60 something MS. More if you use the shuttlecraft hangar at the rear to stow MS instead of those EFF patrol ships seen in 0083 (which are roughly the same size as a GM if the MS that attack it during said appearance are any indicator)
However, the claim in the Unicorn Novel is that it can carry "four battalions" of MS, which if the setup of the Kojima Battalion (eight teams per battalions) plus the EFF's postwar penchant for 4 suits per MS team instead of just 3 (equaling 32 MS per battalion) would equate to around 132 MS (which seems high to me personally :? )
Probably because its more like the CCA-era equivalent of the Magellan (the way the Clop is basically a Salamis equivalent designed from the ground up as a MS carrier, plus just look at that Sally/Maggy-style prow w/ internal missile launchers and try to me its not related), or even a replacement for the Birmingham/Dogosse Giar.
I mean the Federation was going to make more of the things (according to that Unicorn blurb Ed posted), but stopped after the original was destroyed.
I personally don't think Londo Bell had a Pegasus equivalent until they got the Nahel Argama, which makes sense as the Pegasus-class were all decomissioned post-0083 due to their redundency when compared to the now MS-carrying conventional warships and lack of a clear and present earth-based enemy. Only the AEUG revived them, purely for ideological/visual-association reasons IMO.

Yes, I actually kinda like the sphinx-esque design of the other pegasus class ships. I dunno what it is about the Ra Calium but I mainly just don't like how much it broke the mold since they kind of had a thing going (even though it changed a good deal with the Argama and Nahel Argama). I also don't understand what the big fin things are for.
