The delegation from the sea were not in the great hall as one might expect, they were instead waiting outside the towering structure with the masses of common folk, whom all had their heads upturned to the High King's balcony in baited expectation. They were eagerly awaiting permission to feast, and hear his annual speech. Cadan wasn't quite so enthralled, he knew the man wasn't exactly fit for his office, and he wasn't much of a leader to show for it. Being out of shape was one thing, being a pushover was another entirely. After all, a man who will bend over for his subordinates is a man easily put to kneel in a war. Zalboria had much, and people beyond their borders surely wanted it.
This saying nothing for people within. But while affairs in the nation hardly bothered him, those without did. Why he considered himself a protector of the realm was the question of many; whether a sense of duty or desire to keep his own skin safe.
The turbulence of the old man's mind was pushed to the back burner when the king finally stepped onto his stage to the jubilation of many, the common folk around him cheering before falling silent when ushered to hear this year's speech.
Every year Margrave Kasorymor showed up, and each time he wasn't impressed. This time was no different. When the masses were finally dismissed, Cadan and his subordinates went with them to find a table.
"I was expecting more." The soldier to his left said, as if reading his mind.
"Be glad you didn't make any bets." Cadan remarked.
"Is he always this underwhelming?"
"Sometimes more than others. I was expecting at least a good five minutes of jabbering. Eh, who cares, means we can eat faster."
The soldiers nodded as they dropped into a few chairs and asserted themselves most hastily to the mutton. Even the food for the normal people was made to excellent standards during the trials, that was the best part of coming. His clan had their own traditions for stuff like this, as with many facets of their life, they were kept separate from the rest. So reasons to show were few, but between the competitions and the food, he typically made time for it. Of food, the clan leader preferred the normal dishes to the stuff served in the great hall. In there, they over spiced the food so much that you'd think they were trying to use it to burn out the plague. Wasting good spice was a criminal offense.
Literally, a lot of those spices they were eating he stole from abroad and sold.
"They really don't appreciate me in there, you know." Cadan remarked to the men and women around him, both those of his clan and not, while tearing into the mutton and moving from there into some kind of mixed salad.
While many took this time to set themselves up with the other nobles, Cadan had different ideas. He believed that the true strength of a clan, and a nation, was in the lower classes. If you make an impression there, the army itself won't rise against you. That, and, you're more likely to work with these people than the people on the top of the chain. They don't put you on week long wait lists just for an audience, ridiculous....and he might have an interest in portraying himself as some sort of folk hero. Not like other people didn't have worse vices than ego.
"Appreciate isn't the term I would use." An unexpected, feminine voice said from behind him. He immediately groaned.
"Well well, if it isn't the Queen of the Sea. Didn't think you made it." Kasorymor said, minding his tone to show little emotion.
"Don't get your hopes up, Cadan." There was a brief pause before she moved to sit beside him. She folded her daintily-gloved fingers on the top of the table, face stern in contrast to the dress she was wearing.
"Don't you get yours up. You want to keep slinging that Queen title around, you actually sign up on my crew as a sailor and earn it; then I'll start taking you places. Or start pitching in for the coal costs in exchange for me ferrying you around like a chauffeur, your choice." He retorted, scooting a platter of beef to his 'governor'. She politely declined.
"We both know that ship doesn't use coal, but nice try."
"Guilty as charged." He shrugged nonchalantly. "How'd you know to look for me out here?"
"Because you don't even stay in your own Great Hall, why would you be found in anyone else's?" Queen Mary asked him, making Cadan narrow his eyes in speculation of what she wanted.
"Since I have a right to be there, all the clans get to show up...I just don't feel like mucking around with the snobs."
That made the queen smile, being just what she wanted to hear.
"I'm glad to hear you say that, because my cousin, ever the forgetful one, seems to have misplaced my invitation."
"I wasn't gonna tell you that when you asked me for a ride. I don't lead a clan to be the sucker stuck with delivering bad news. I'm too important to play mail boy." The Sea Lord stated.
"So it seems. But now that you're here, I can accompany you to the Grand Feast."
"What's all this, now?"
"Indeed. As the governor of your region, I'm to oversee your conduct in the trial." The haughty tone of voice made the man seethe, and claiming she owned anything of his only made the bitterness run deeper.
"Bullshit."
"It's true."
"I'm not in the trial, or even any of the fights."
"Showing up at all makes you a participant."
"Tch. What's in this for me? What do I get for making you look good?"
She pretended to think about that. "It would be showing up the royal family? I know how you love to thumb your nose at authority."
"...I'll think about it."
"A few of my relatives are in town and doing the same, surely you don't want to miss out?"
Cadan sighed. "Well if you're using my reputation against me I guess I have to do it."
"I knew you would." The Queen happily concluded, placing her hand on his and squeezing. If looks could kill, a lot of people at this table would be dead.
"Don't look so smug. I hope whatever dingy you took over here is still in town, because you're gonna be walking if not."
That finally made her frown in turn, withdrawing her hand and folding her arms. Cadan chuckled and took a few more bites of food from what was left on his plate, and then tugged his gloves back on.
"You're impossible, Cadan, I don't know why I put up with you." She lamented.
He pat her on the back. "Because you don't got a choice. But hey, far as I'm concerned, you're the one best suited to sit on the high throne itself."
"Truly?" She asked.
"Yeah, so you'd then be out of my hair forever. Now let's do this before I change my mind." The sailor said while pushing himself to his feet. He motioned his men to do the same, and the Queen came with them.
"Wish you wore something more..." Cadan rolled his hand, trying to dig up the right word to fit the situation.
The Queen was wearing a very high quality dress of sea-blue silk, with a necklace of pearls shining in the lights overlooking and illuminating the feasting grounds. It was nice, to be sure, and it fit the style of a woman from Kollekost, but it was not very...
"Martial, that's the word."
"I think there's enough of that between your party for the entire delegation. Shall we?"
"Lets."
At last they moved off to the Great Hall.
A few minutes after...
The Queen's group moved along later than the mountain king's, though they saw him walking up ahead. Mary started to pick up the pace, but Cadan boded her caution with a hand.
"Wait, and see." He pointed to the doors of the great hall. All the guards piled into the follow the mountain king, leaving their own way quite clear.
"See? He was nice enough to do all the hard work for us. Pays to be an opportunist." Saying that he tapped the lenses of his mask to make a point while climbing the stairs to the feast hall and entering, following the red carpet to where the function was being held.
"How bad do you want to make them hate us, my lord?" One of the soldiers asked their leader.
"Real bad, you know what to do."
Two of them nodded and ran ahead.
"Your brother knows how to make an entrance."
"That he does."
In the Great Hall
Two Gwithysi, unmistakable due to their manner of dress, stepped through the doors while the royal guard were still trying to keep Neville from approaching the high king. They each took a side of the entrance and cleared their throat. They had to try not to laugh as the High King got shown up at his own pageant, and they were about to make it worse.
"PRESENTING!" One began, and the other picked up. "Margrave Cadan Kasorymor! First Sea Lord of Zalboria and High Captain of the fleet!"
He stepped into the room and bowed, pulling off his cap in a show of respect exaggerated almost to the point of mockery. "Wonderful party your highness, my thanks for the invitation."
"And at his side, Queen Mary Lamont! Mistress of the Sea and Keeper of the waves."
On cue she stepped in beside Cadan and did the same.
"So good to see you all again." She said with a smile, flashing it to both the trade lord and the High King.
The rest of his troops piled in behind them, as if to show that trying to remove them wouldn't be a very good idea. A dozen strong now, the entourage from Kollelkost moved to be seated, with Asher and his companions catching his eye along with the imposing figure of the mountain king.

Being a lower rank noble, James himself are not able to sit too close up to the front, Yumi don't even get to be in the feast being a personal guard and not an actual ranked soldier. Not that he cares much about such trivial things, the trait is much more important than this feast, after all he could have a smaller but personal one of his own back at his own land. He ate his meal with haste as if he's in a battlefield, such is the view of Gransela, to be prepared for any possible event. He drunk little, if at all, taking non-alcoholic beverages over wine, so that he could keep his senses sharp.
The Trade King's appearance got his attention, so he studied this powerful king that the Exion clan has worked with. Though with a kind face on, James could feel that he had other intentions. But he's a Knight of the Exion, and not Zalboria, so he decided it's better to not interfere with the political games that the royal family has in mind. Instead he talk to the others around his table, gathering information on his possible opponents during the trait, making friends and understanding their motives. When the prince came over, he calmly introduce himself when it was his turn. Being the owner of his own land sparked some interests among the crowd, but many of them know about Exion's policies and accepted how it was, even if some of the more traditional ones did not like it one bit.
The night continued until the sudden appearance of the Mountain King, while many are stunned, James quickly jumps to action. Being in a feast, he's unarmed, but he quickly heads over to Charles' side and shield his lord with his own body. He does know the banner of the Mountain King, but that doesn't mean it'll ensure that it's a peaceful event, not when he suddenly barges in. But Charles put a hand on his shoulder, and shakes his head, telling him that it won't be necessary. So James stands beside his lord and just watch the event unfold.
Though James admires others with abilities, his first impression of the Mountain King was not a pleasant one. The High King may be weak, but his job of mending the relationship between nobles have at least shown some success, and the lack of respect from the Mountain King is enough for James to be weary of him. Mean while, the High King might seem cowardly, but there is really not much he could do. After all his job is to maintain the relationship between nobles, starting a problem himself by forcing the Mountain King out would be the opposite what he should do.
But Asher, who was with the Mountain King, was not someone that he expected to see. Perhaps that means those two strange men were followers of the Mountain King? But that does not explain why they were sneaking around and being suspicious. As for Asher, being together with the Mountain King does show that the young man around his age might have relied on the King's power to get himself out, and he did not like that kind of action one bit. So he decides that such a person does not deserve his attention, and focus more towards the next group that arrived behind them. He does however notices that Asher is similar to the Mountain King in showing little respect towards the High King, and that doesn't help in mending his opinion towards Asher.
Next came the Queen of the Sea, who came along with Cadan. James himself wondered what kind of relationship might have existed for the two, but decided it's in his best interest to not care about it. Koeff greets the Queen by nodding with a smile towards her direction, showing signs of friendship to any possible allies or pawns that could be used. If you ask the commoners who are the most friendly King then it would be Koeff, but some of the nobles would be more wary about such opinion.
James also noticed a few other figures, such as Cadan who was looking at Asher, in which he greets with a nod of acknowledgement to show signs of friendship. Another would be Kennocha, who seems to look similar to Asher, so he guess that they are related or something. But as his service is not needed to his lord, he returns to his seat.

With the commotion finally dying down everyone attempted to go back to the feast. Much occurred now at that moment but Asher noticed the Mountain King give a small smirk when he heard his sister come in after them. Asher turned to notice the man in the mask wondering who he was as he looked at him as if in interest.
"That is brother Margrave Cadan Kasorymor, as you heard. That man is known to dislike laws and does away with in in scorn or so I heard. Regardless be careful coming in like this will draw unnecessary attention.", Kennocha soon said with a small smile as she and the guard soon walked with the Mountain King as he took a seat that many simply moved out of his way and away from him.
They stood at attention not paying heed to the various glares giving away to them with Asher soon sighing see the two guests with him beside him.
"That was interesting no? Quite an interesting predicament we are in.", Merlin soon said figuring some things out.
Igor soon shrugged at this and both along with Asher saw a seat not too far but people moved out of their way too. Given some food by nervous Servants in the way it seemed they would be left alone. He still noticed the man from earlier who went near some other noble which he didn't recognize either but his Clan colors gave it off otherwise.
'So the Exion clan's loyal dog huh...', Asher soon thought as he ate his food during all this Validar who kept his distance soon came to him but didn't seat simply was giving off his face at an annoyance.
"Well it seems you managed to escape. But I am shocked to get the Mountain King to do this what sort of thing your scheming?", Validar whispered.
Asher raised an eyebrow then replies simply, "Scheming? Nah I am not scheming anything or maybe it is you who is scheming."
"Ha we will see, you will know your place, Rorke you better know it better!", Validar soon said with a small voice but with anger then left Asher to his own devices.
Of course Asher knowing the cousin who just left him he knew he would boast himself and likely go for the highest ranked person willing to talk to him. As well he had anger issues that Asher had managed to control. Well not a bit as well as others he has seen, as well he had a feeling he was being stared at by multiple people. Ignoring them he began to eat he was famished and didn't give a moment's care that people stared.
With the Trade King
'That Nephew of mine... he knows how to make his brother pissed off.', Koeff soon said as he noticed the High King was not please, not even trying to hide it. Knowing full well this could lead to issues he had to get the situation back into control, a High King who is angry can make things worse and it is bad for business. Going to his nephew he began whispering into the High King ear.
"I know you are mad your highness but for now I may suggest you allow him to stay this time?", Koeff said to Kylan.
"But he had the audacity to come here knowing full well he is not allowed in the capital! Not to mention my baby sister here doesn't sit well with me either!!", Kylan whispered back.
"Do not worry, remember if you make a move now you will not only anger a large portion of the kingdom but also large part of the Lamont Clan. If we carelessly provoke them it would only lead to one result.", Koeff then suggested.
"But they spread rumors that I am not an fit king, they keep on spewing that the Mountain King makes a better High King then me!! Even some have said the Sea Queen makes a better ruler!! Usurpers they all are!!", The High King whispered back with a bit strain.
"Do not worry for now we will allow him and her here for the Trial, which then they will leave. We can easily think of a way of proper punishment... no?", Koeff suggested which the High King soon nodded in agreement.
With this Koeff soon bowed to his Majesty then says, "I will go great my niece and Nephew your highness have a good feast."
With that Koeff soon left first to head to see Mary as she was the easier to talk to then Neville, who would give the cold shoulder. Walking up he soon says to Mary, "My niece how was the trip from the Kollelkost region?"
He soon noticed the person with a mask who he had his own ideas who truly behind but didn't question it for now then says, "Ah Margrave Caden Kasorymor, I heard of your arrival always known to make quite an entrance?"
With Keiana
When the aftermath on what occurred Keiana noticed the two main parties who entered not only her uncle came but so did her aunt. This left things a bit amiss that she has seen her aunt before yes but her uncle Neville not so much, in fact this was the first time seeing him as she could even remember. He looked utterly different from her father in fact looked both strong and more warrior then her father ever one. Even the way he talked made her internally cringe as it made her father look dumb, though part of her was a bit happy to see her father for once. One upped by someone else and made things interesting. What she noticed of the two parties that entered first off was the guards around her uncle looked like soldiers unlike the royal guard in the palace these looked to wear less fancy armor and looked more stern. Which she even compared to her Aunt Mary's group who looked more, how to put it... wild? That alone made her head pick up with excitement, not everyday you get to see pirate like people and adventure from that. Then which brought to the other people who lead them the Man in the mask look mysterious which made her think who was he?
That is when her brother soon says to her, "If your wondering who is in the mask that is the infamous Margrave Caden Kasoymur. Myth says he is immortal and has been living in the last 116 years. He has least the Kollelkost Region under the Kasorymor Clan ever since. Though I got my own theories on that and there is no way someone can be immortal."
When she turned to see back to the Mountain King's group she noticed a woman looked similar to the boy she saw earlier from before. It was strange in itself, she noticed him out of all the people in the crowd but why? Such so that she even ignored something else who was looking at her earlier which she felt. She never told anyone well exception of her brother how she can 'feel' people though it was hard to tell all the time. In fact it never worked when she wanted to but it was strange it was working now. When she saw him she also noticed the two strangers which perked her interest even more, a sense of wanting to know was plaguing her mind.
"I know that look sister, is it the strangers with that boy who was with the High King?", Kylan said with a smirk.
"It is nothing brother, regardless I think father wouldn't appro-", Keiana was said which the Crown Prince soon nodded.
"So true, for now let me handle this.", Kylan soon said as he walked towards the small group.
With Kylan, Crown Prince
As the Crown Prince was enjoying the the feast and listening to the various people of the other regions, he as learned in his seventeen years of age a future King must know all his subjects if not their grievances would go unnoticed. This was one thing he learned well looking at his father, he had to admit his father was such a good example of a bad king. Though seeing his great uncle Koeff was a good example of a better leader, though it was obvious he lived much longer then the others. Now to give opinion of his uncle Neville and seeing his Aunt Mary, he couldn't tell he hardly ever seen them. In fact its been a decade since seeing his uncle Neville. Regardless their style of clothing and talk interested him as well even those of the Kollelkost region had interesting clothing choice. As he walked to Asher's place of sitting he noticed a couple of things, one of his fellow Paemir Region's looked a bit pissed which made him raise his brow. As well earlier he noticed Margrave Ksorymor was eying Asher. which even noticed Margrave James Gransela, eying him. Which he would of been normal if even his own sister was eying the boy, which made him wonder?
'Please don't tell me she is love struck? If so father is not going to be happy. I need to keep this nice and cool, if I don't then there is always the chance she may act on it.', Kylan thought to himself.
Which itself was true his sister though outside looks neutral, the perfect looking noble woman like her mother in fact. Well lets put it like this she in fact secretly had a rebellious streak. Sneaking out to go read a book or look on the castle battlements, always trying to find a small thing to spite their parents even only if its minor. Right now he didn't need another Court Crisis in his hands especially as future High King. He soon walked up to the table where Asher was sitting then sat down on the table right across from him.
For a brief moment he didn't move or anything but looked up then asks, "May I help you, your highness?"
"Oh nothing much I was just thinking your armor is similar to Validar Bachelet... I take from the same region, no?", Kylan soon asked.
"Yes, well more like we are cousins. Oh sorry let me introduce myself I am Apprentice Dragoon, Asher Rorke of the Cuillinn-Rorke-Bachelet Clan. These two here are my uh... acquaintances an 'inventor' named Professor Merlin and his assistant, Mister Igor", Asher soon replied which Igor then adds, "That is is Doctor Igor mind you."
"Yes that..", Asher managed to say but Kylan could notice he looked a bit nervous which he noticed the various lords staring their way.
Of course he figured this was going to happen as he was Crown Prince and talking to him would lead to 'issues'. Not to mention two notable people looking their way that as of course the masked Margrave and the young Margrave Dragoon.
"That is all fine and all, strange clothing though I do have a favor to ask of you. Though you got to keep this secret, m'kay?", the Crown Prince soon said with a whisper.
"That I can do but what kind of favor?", Asher soon asked a bit suspiciously.
"Not much... but as you know to tradition after the feast is we all go to the grand ball room.", Crown Prince soon said.
"Uh huh, get to your point.", Asher soon stated not caring he looked to be stared at more harshly.
"You will see, let's say meet me near the balcony above it when it does happen.", the Crown Prince said with a smirk then soon leaves.

While on his way to take a seat Cadan tipped his cap in greeting to the leader of the Gransela clan, now that he had seen the fellow in a more formal situation where it would be appropriate, compared to earlier in the streets. The participants in the trials were far from secret, and it was said that he'd be involved. Not unusual on it's own, but the fact that this would result in a dragoon leading a clan was. That sort of thing typically wound up with one having quite the poor reputation, even if it wasn't strictly forbidden. His concealed eyes flickered from him, to the Duke of Exion, to the trade king, and wondering what the story there was.
Maybe if he had time he'd just go ask. If nothing else, his predicament was an interesting one and he'd surely have interesting perspective due to it.
Mary did similar, giving the king from the north a wave while the two of them moved to find a place to sit. Unsurprisingly, they drifted over to where the western families resided. While this pair was unusual, they weren't blacklisted to the extent Neville was, so they were served much more readily by the serving staff. Cadan sighed when the first course that was presented ended up to be a platter of fish, probably the one thing he didn't want more of right now. The Queen was less apprehensive and began to poke at her own seafood.
"Looks like your brother there sure struck a nerve." Kasorymor whispered to the woman beside him while sampling some of the wine, which he had to admit, was very good.
To the woman's credit, she didn't seem bothered in the least by the High King and his closest adviser having their hushed conversation. They couldn't hear it but the topic was pretty clear. "Brother dearest can handle himself, if there was ever a man that could."
"Gonna be a fun couple days, that's for sure."
Both went silent when they caught sight of Koeff approaching, with the margrave opting to let her handle it. Was her kinsmen, after all.
"The trip was pleasant enough, thank you. Shame that it is such a long way, but the opportunity to see the countryside was delightful." Mary responded to Koeff, the image of politeness. Despite what the two thought of each other, this wasn't the time or place to exchange barbs so openly. Neville had that covered quite thoroughly, so for now they could exchange conversation. "I trust Exion is as calm this time of year as ever?"
When he was spoken to the man from Kollelkost gave a short wave. "I try to make sure people have something to talk about, not every day I show up so far inland after all. While the poor lot on the western coast," he motioned to the appropriate branch of Koeff's family nearby, "see too much of me for their own good, everyone else winds up sorely deprived."
"Too much of this dry land gets to me. Heard its all rolling plains in your demesne...must be hell." Cadan said, giving a short laugh at his own joke.
While Cadan and Mary didn't get along too well most of the time they at least knew the other and where they stood. While he knew of the trade king only in passing he got some details about him from the good queen herself. How dubious those were, he supposed, he just might find out here.

Koeff soon nodded at the reply by the Queen then replies, "Ah Exion is as beautiful as ever. In fact the best its been in years you should come visit."
Of course Koeff always had other reasons for acting nice for some it could be seen as an invitation into a trap for one.
As he heard about the plains and complaining of it was expected, as this so called man has always been in this for all these years. "Plains are not hell, just like we talked about all those years ago about them I always have an open door to 'guests'. Though please do not compare land to hell."
During all this back with Asher and the Crown Prince were talking both were at least still in ear shout of that. Asher didn't say much but with the question the Crown Prince said it alone made him suspicious.
'What is his game?'
But no sooner the Prince Kylan soon got up then says, "Do not not need answer just come when the time to go to the ball begins."
With that he soon left which made Asher into deep thought.
"He seemed nice enough.", Igor soon chimed in still tasting all his food as he spoke.
"Igor please pass that over there.", Merlin then said as Igor grabbed it then passed it along.
Asher was for a second taken aback then remember these two were not from this land.
"Just remember table manners please.", Asher soon said as more time passed.
During this people around them started to actually get close for once, mostly because of Merlin and discussing many things clans didn't realize. Hell even he didn't know a lot of the stuff he told which made him wonder where he came from. As that time passed he soon notice the time was getting into 9PM, which of course soon after a man entered soon proclaiming, "My Lords and Ladies the Ball is ready."
Soon many got up except the High King who continued to eat and drink not caring. Nothing else to do he wasn't too sure he should go but he soon got up as well many others it seemed most were going to the ball well a few stayed to eat more. Asher soon followed the many people and soon came to the great doors of the ballroom which opened, walking in he soon was in wonder at the splendor, great paintings, great windows to see outside, even great trophies hanged about but the one that caught his eye, was a massive painting of a large Dragon. The Dragon itself was likely painted after the Great Doevassu War with the High King Validar II Zalboria next to it. Of course right next to that was a larger painting of the same thing but instead of the old High King it had the High King Kylan IV, The Great next it with likely made after the Baladoraxian War. He continued to stare for a good long while.

"Perhaps I may do just that come fall, where I can see the trees change color and the wheat ripen. It was specular last I went." Mary responded with a polite, yet wry, smile. While it was true it was a beautiful land in its own right, she had to tread carefully these days. With the king weak others grew bold.
As for Cadan he blinked a few times, caught quite off guard by the reaction he got from Koeff. He wasn't even trying to wind the guy up for once, but he sure shifted from friendly, even if feigned, into seeming bitterness at a hat drop. "I thought it was pretty clear I was joking, I'm sorry if that got lost in translation."
There was a brief pause, and a shrug before he continued. "You might recall last time I was there it was in the dead of winter, and when all you see is driving snow and plains of ice, a man starts making correlations. Something about hell freezing over. Probably not the best impression."
He chose not to say anything about the impression this meeting left, and instead opted to tug over a saucer of seaweed rolls and pick at them. For now he ignored the summons to the ball and remained along with the small handful of other people who did the same. "Maybe that's the problem, it's not hell enough for me so my opinions are flipped. I should tell you the story of my short stay in Doevassu sometime, there's a real land that can be defined as hellish."
While they didn't meet very often, Kasorymor wanted to be somewhat amicable, even if to be able to say he tried. "Don't let me keep you from the Ball, once a year occasion."

Noticing the not so great atmosphere in the conversation, Charles decides it's his job to give his business partner a hand, and speaks up while pointing at one of the plates on the table.
"Then perhaps you should come during Summer then, Exion has all sorts of fresh vegetables and meat. Just like this dish here, more than half of the ingredients here are from Exion. I'll be glad to give you a tour of our land if you like to visit us sometime in the future, Margrave Gransela here would be honored to provide hospitality to one such as yourself."
"It'll be my pleasure as the lord of Gransela to do so."
Just before Charles started talking, he already motioned under the table for James to come over, so he suddenly appeared behind them and surprising a few people by doing so. James nods and bow slightly to the members of the table.
By now, Koeff has recovered from his bit of mistake, and put back on a more friendly manner.
"Oh do forgive me for my remark, it's just that I can't let the rumors start flying, after all it'll do harm to my businesses."
With this short act, Charles move the topic away from the suddenly silence a few moments ago, and return it back towards talking about more enjoyable topics. Hopefully to mend any bad feelings between the parties involved, after all, one more possible ally made is one less possible enemy to fight against.

During this Neville sat and finished his food, he had a good meal even if it was by his most pig headed brother. Regardless he felt a sense of accomplishment with him doing what he did, but also knew his sister was in town too. Figuring out she rather not be the one to crash the party it had to be someone, as well he didn't hate her at all in fact still saw her as family even if they had disagreements. His brother on the other hand he saw as weak and a man who is too selfish for himself. Ever since that event that happened all those years ago it was all bad blood between him and his elder brother. He avenged his father but at the same time his family unity was now utterly destroyed. Already the cracks within the Royal Clan has been building and rearing its ugly head. The Lamonts on the eastern half of the nation despised his elder brother, who not only ignored the ruined Fafian Region but others, true more freedom to the clans but with raids from the Imperials and more bandits who began to stir. He has even heard rumors someone had been handling the bandits as of late which made him wonder.
'Are the sins of the Lamonts finally catching up to us? Or is it something else?', Neville soon thought which brought to him to look around.
Noticing the young boy he brought with him showed potential, in fact potential most wouldn't see. A different kind unlike his sister and brother but he felt it was best to see what the Trial will bring. As he looked he soon noticed a young man who looked like a better version of his brother, which guessed who it was his. His Nephew soon walked towards Asher but not before he noticed where he came from. Turning he soon saw a young red headed woman in a dress not too far which was looking in Asher's direction. He knew who it was it was his Niece which gave him red indicators but at the same time an idea.
"It seems another way to scorn my brother is beginning to present itself.", Neville soon whispered which he eye gave an silent order to one of the men who nodded.
"Your majesty?", Kennocha soon asked.
"Nothing to worry about Dragooness Rorke, everything just seems like its going my way for once.", Neville commented, as he soon got up to go to the Ball.
With Asher he continued to look at the various things in the ball room as the people soon positioned themselves as the band was preparing to play. Soon the music began to sound, which of course people began to waltz in the room which he noticed a few either talked or danced. Drinks were being handed out to people who needed it or even people talked well not dancing. Over the brief time of 15 minutes he soon began to go up the stairs looking at the walls at the various paintings and other decorations. Though inside Asher rather be outside with the other commoners to play some of the games or even enjoy the festiveness. As he soon came to the top he saw no one about, thinking maybe the Crown Prince had to talk to him or even a little joke he shrugged and began to look down at the people dancing. For a brief while he stood there looking down, then continued to stair at the various people dancing.

Kasorymor followed where Charles was pointing, showing interest in what he had to say. "I'm sure it's a nice place. I might just have to take you up on your offer sometime. Adventure's an important part of life, least for myself. I try to make the rounds every couple of years, just so I remember what we're all fighting for here."
The arrival of Gransela behind them didn't make him flinch, as if he had a sixth sense, or just a finely tuned five. It did make him smirk, however; the kid was good. Regardless he looked over his shoulder and waved. "I've seen you around a few times today, nice to meet you. I am Margrave Cadan Kasorymor, of Kollelkost, far to the west and over the sea. If you've ever been on a ship, you've likely met someone I know." No doubt his counterpart had heard it during the introduction, but it was still both polite and customary to be formal about it.
"Anyway no harm done, suppose my humor is a little rusty. This language is still my second, things that sound good up here," he tapped his temple lightly, "sometimes don't end up as spotless. Still, I'd kill to hear more about the place. Lot of history down there I'm told. I believe a man who doesn't known his past can't hope to prosper in the future, so I take an interest in the world's history."
Out of the corner of his eye, the masked man watched the mountain king and the last few other stragglers start to file out of the great hall. With everyone else doing the same he figured he should head that was as well, and moved to do so after finishing the roll he had picked up a second ago.
"Well we better get in there, right?" Cadan said, nodding towards the double doors leading to the ball. Even from out here the music could be heard faintly from the musicians brought in for the event. He pushed himself to his feet, the Queen doing the same after one of the Gwithyas accompanying Cadan pulled out her chair. Before leaving he turned to the 16 year old, whom was soon to be a dragoon.
"Good luck in the challenge. If you didn't figure it out yet, the kid you arrested earlier is another contestant. I look forward to seeing that one play out later. Sirs." Kasorymor gave a quick, if once again exaggerated bow, to the gentlemen from Exion before leaving for the ball with Mary and his subordinates in tow. He chuckled lightly, suspecting that would be the match of the year.
"So good to see you all again. Please do stay in touch." Queen Lamont also informed the two elders on the way out, this being the closest thing they had to a reunion in some time - even if the high king didn't want it that way. A fact which was not lost on her, and that she would not forget.

"Pleased to meet you, lord of Kollelkost. I am James Wong, of Gransela. Unfortunately the area that I was born in lacked access to the ocean, so I do not have the fine opportunity to sail on the sea, perhaps you should show me sometimes. And like wise, I'm sure you have heard of the fine steeds of Gransela, wonderful horses and matching warriors to be fighting aside with on the battlefield."
Looks like the group in front of them are ones that deserve some respect from James, and at least not an immediate enemy of Exion. Perhaps with more time and effort they could become a possible ally for Exion, and James could be a decent pipe for the two factions.
Cadan's advice brought a bit of surprise from James, after all he'd expected other contestants of the trial to at least have the ability to control themselves. But looks like his standard is a bit too high to judge all of the contestants by his own morals, but perhaps they excels in other abilities for them to be chosen to represent their clans?
"Thank you for the advice Lord Kollelkost, I look forward to having an honorable and memorable match with my opponents."
He returns the bow with one of his own, after all if he's given respect, he should be doing so in return.
Koeff and Charles both give their own nod back in return.
"And a good day to you too, if you have time, then come visit me at Exion."
"Enjoy the feast and the ball."

Neville and his group soon entered the ball room which the music played, he soon took a place at a corner for a brief second and watched as the many people danced. Of course, he was observing everyone intently picking who was where and who now was with who. His group stayed like this for a brief while waiting to see what will happen next.
Asher stood there for a long while noticed others entering and soon wondered if this was just a little prank. Maybe Validar put the Crown Prince up to this but that didn't sound right at all. As he was about to think about going back down a voice soon said something behind him.
"Boring looking doesn't it?", a voice said which without thinking Asher responded, "Ya... I am not much of a guy who likes balls anyways. Whoever put this together needs to rethink fun."
As he was saying this without realizing he was responding to he soon turned to only see someone he least expected to see. Before him was the Princess of the Kingdom and she wore a violent dress with pearls on his neck. Her face looked like just as he saw it before when she was in the parade earlier that day. Asher was a brief moment panicked which he had to think of a way to get out because he just inavertedly insulted one of the royalty.
"Sorry Princess I didn't mean to say anything wro-', Asher managed to say as he bowed only to hear a laugh which made him wonder he did something wrong.
"No no its all fine truth be told I think balls are also boring as well.", Keiana soon said as she put her hand to her chin going back into a thought.
Asher fixed himself and soon sighed in relief, not wanting to go back into the cell again he had to try to salvage his reputation in the capital, if he had any.
"Your Highness, what brings you here anyways?", Asher soon asked which meant why is she up here and not down there with the others.
"Hrmm you could say I was the one who requested you up here.", Keiana soon said with that hand on her chin still then adds, "Oh and its Keiana by the way."
"I see, Princess Keiana then.", Asher soon said trying to remember decorum, which he hardly used to begin with. But it soon dawned on him why would the Princess want to even see him to begin with. Then he remember she looked at him for a brief second during the parade it was itself odd, even now being next to her it was totally different. The silence continued which Asher thought for a second maybe it was a bad idea to talk to her. Which prompted him to finally ask, "Is something the matter Princess Keiana?"
"Hrmm not really, say earlier you with the my uncle the Mountain King and much earlier next to the ones with weird clothing. What is up with that?", she soon asked.
Which Asher then promptly replied, "Ah its a long story you might not-"
"No go on a head I have all the time right now.", Keiana soon asked which continued with Asher talking what exactly happened.
This continued all the way asking questions which normal people would know, from how commoners lived, how Paemir Region was, even asking what food they ate. For that time they continued to talk like this and even Asher asked much about the Princess, this all continued under the watchful eye of one of the Mountain King's Guards from bellow who kept on eye on him.

Once in the ball room, with the noise of the music and chatting guests to obscure them, the nobility from the west were free to talk without as much risk of being overheard.
"They seemed nice enough." Cadan remarked, slipping his hands into his pockets while walking around the outer perimeter of the ball room. This way he was well clear of the dancers, and the people poking at the food on the tables placed in here as well. More than one of the guests looked to be a little tipsy, so he figured it best to steer clear of anyone who can't follow through with their steps on the dance floor - whether than be due to liquor or poor coordination. "First time I ran into the Duke and Trade King in ages. Haven't changed much...forgot how easy it was to strike a nerve on the latter, though. Not the guy I was aiming to strike either."
"You don't truly believe that?" Mary asked, looking at him from the corner of her eyes, in regards to the first line of what was said.
"Of course not. But Gransela and the Duke seem like amicable people."
She nodded knowingly. "Theirs is the way of the serpent, whispering what men want to hear and persuading them to act in their own best interests."
The sailor seems unphased, and gave one of his trademarked quips in reply. "I hunt serpents, remember. This mask is made of the ivory of a great sea snake."
"I've heard the tale a thousand times, Cadan."
"Care to make it a thousand and one, your highness?" He asked with a sneer.
"I think not. But you do understand my point, yes?"
"Of course, watch out for them. But I'm not out to burn any bridges. We're practically worlds apart, you know. At any rate, what are you going to do now? I got you in, you hardly need to keep hanging off my arm. People will start to think you're my date. And we can't have that."
She sighed, shaking at her head. "Yes, I suppose I shall leave you be for now. I have some catching up to do." While speaking she turned from him, scanning the room until her eyes finally found and locked onto Neville where he was sitting off the side.
Without a word she broke from Cadan's side and made her way over to where the Mountain King and his guards were seated. "Nice of you to visit, I almost didn't think you would make it when I heard you planned to crash the party. I presumed the city guard would hold you back at the gate. Did you have much trouble?"
She put a hand to her mouth and laughed quietly. "Ah, but you never were an easy one to dissuade. More like an ox than a mountain man." Undaunted by his guards she took a seat beside him. While her own strength was more subdued, she feared little, and knew her family well enough to know the guards at his side wouldn't stop her.

"So James, Lord Kollelkost mentioned that you have arrested the boy over there earlier, what is the story behind that?"
Charles over heard that Cadan mentioned about Asher, and is a bit interested in what might cause a future pilot to be arrested. James turns towards his lord and explains how the arrest was mainly due to some shady men that Asher was protecting.
"I apologize for causing any problems."
"You did the right thing, we cannot let just anyone wander around the streets, possibly causing trouble. That Rorke boy have no common sense of being a noble! But it is unlikely that the High King would allow a relationship between his daughter and someone that seems to be openly on the Mountain King's side, so it's of little concern to us."
"Yes my Lord."
Charles don't really care what Asher might be doing, as long as it won't interfere with Exion businesses or waste any more of Zalboria's budget. He's more focused on developing his own land and helping his own people, rather than touching the dangerous affairs with the throne. As for James, he have even less reason to care, as long as Asher is still following the law then he would not do anything to provoke him. But he does remind himself to keep an eye on his possible opponent during the trial, he ignored the law and got out of jail with the help of a supporter, you don't know if he'll pull something shady during the trial too.
"Now that business is done, how about you join me for a drink?"
"But I-"
"I know your clan don't tend to drink, but it won't hurt much to relax before the trial starts, it'll help you get ready to give it your best."
So James picks up a goblet filled with some alcoholic drink that he does not recognize, but instead of sipping it like he usually does, he went and drink all of it with a few large gulp... then proceeds to pass out after managing to get himself on a chair. Looks like the mighty warrior aren't used to drinking, and couldn't hold his liquor. Charles sighs at this and gets some servants to help James out, who then passes him onto Yumi who is waiting outside, and takes him back to the Exion Mansion.
"If only he could get better at drinking then he would be a perfect Knight... guess no one is perfect."
So he turns and greet other nobles instead, there's still a bit of time before the feast is over, so he may as well spend them wisely.

As time continued Asher didn't notice the time as it was getting closer to late as he Dance continued, he soon noticed the Princess soon turned who looked at the nearest clock. Soon one of the handmaidens came up and informed her it was time to go which she soon nodded.
"It was nice meeting you Dragoon Asher Rorke, good luck. I have a feeling we will meet again and you will bring greatness into the Trials", Keiana soon said which Asher was about to reply he was not a Dragoon yet but which she then continues, "I have a feeling you will defiantly pass but more over."
As she passed him she soon whispers, "Beware the others, they will try anything to move obstacles in their way. You also felt it too? There is another like us here, you just must realize it and waken it. If you don't you might die, beware of him."
With that she left heading back where she came leaving Asher to his own devices. 'What in the world? Someone like us? What is she talking about?', Asher soon thought but soon for a second felt his head hurt a bit. He wasn't sure but something about the Princess made him felt different then he ever felt before. Was it love at first sight or something else entirely?
With Neville
When his sister soon came he knew what to expect, yes she can be a problematic sister but he never hated her. Unlike their older brother who has become utterly corrupted he cared still for his sister who made a way for herself which made him respect her. Though their age is years apart he felt closer to her then his brother Kylan. He always wondered though why she was the only one of the five royal siblings to not get married. Even he was married and had a daughter he loved back at Mount Paemir, his wife died at childbirth a complication lead to her death. As his sister came his guards were tense but he was not, he soon waved his hands which the guards took their hands off their weapons.
"Ah sister Mary its been a long time, and no it was not difficult, I simply said move it or die. It works extremely effective when one needs it to. As for more of an Ox... I say more of a boar then that. It is in our blood to be very stubborn. As well I hear your having such a nice time with the good long lived Lord Kollelkost, do not tell me your into older men?", Neville soon said as a complete jest, which of course he was not serious. Even Mary would easily be able to pick up on that which he soon chuckled a good hearty laugh, a rarity seen on an man with such a fierce face.
Soon talking there one of the guards he sent to look what Asher Rorke was doing then whispered into his ear.
"Ah I see, this is an interesting development and one which would make Kylan blood boil.", Neville commented then turned to his sister.
"So sister you going to be staying here for the Trial I take?", Neville then asked.
Elsewhere
During all his Merlin and Igor continued to talk to various nobles which if anyone noticed they were asking questions which normal person would laugh at. Basic things such things as their land, their people, the general culture. This was of course to get information on the place they landed and continued this throughout the night.

Mary shook her head upon hearing how he got in. Not in the disappointed manner, but in the 'what am I going to do with you?' sort siblings were so known for. Neville's mannerisms were always bold to the point of being brash, and that was saying something. Their family was quite stubborn, boarish would be a good fit for more reasons than one. This was a man who made things move, and that wasn't always a good thing. It did, after all, end up with him on the blacklist. Still, with the mountain king you knew where you stood, and that was something she always appreciated. While the two had their own rivalries going back some time, the two did know at the end of the day there wasn't enmity. More than could be said for some of their kin. At the least you wouldn't wind up facing a dagger with one of these two.
"Stubborn we surely are, but I like to think of it as a benefit. It allows us to triumph where others would lose heart. That is how we seized the throne, do recall." She taunted in a playful manner. "I hope you're keeping up on your history. I hear Paemir is quite rural and undeveloped. It is the only reason I excuse the lack of contact."
The implication that followed made her almost choke on her words, trying her best to keep her ladylike composure and not laugh as well. "Oh my, I dare say that man takes 'older' to another level entirely. Supposing you believe the stories. That man can weave tales to put the best bard to shame."
The Queen waited patiently while Neville spoke to his guard, and then nodded a single time when his attention was turned back to her. "Indeed I shall, until I can twist the good margrave into bringing me back upon his vessel. Perhaps you could assist a sibling in need in dealing with a stubborn gentleman who can't show respect?" She said, making a joke of her own, both at the expense of the lord of Kollelkost and her brother, whom also had problems with respecting certain people...like the high king.
However her curiosity got the better of her. "I don't suppose you're willing to share this news you spoke of? I do so hate to be left out of the loop."
